Lund Trident
Thinkinag about getting q lund trident for my truck. I was wondering if anyone had one and if so how they like it. I also want to know how it mounts to the hood. The ad says with a mechanical mounting device, but that does not tell me much. I also want to know if anyone has had any problem with it rubbing on the top of the grille.

I have a Lund Trident and I love it. I looked at a few of the choices available at Pep Boys. Opened the boxes and peeked in. They seemed kinda wimpy and a few were supposed to be held on with velcro! Not sturdy enough for me. I went ahead and ordered the Trident from J.C. Whitney sight unseen. I was very pleased when it arrived. The Trident was much thicker and sturdier looking than the cheaper alternatives and all the mounting hardware is top quality. Basically, it's mounted with black-plastic-coated-steel brackets that are fastened to the hood with screws that push up from underneath. It's a friction kinda thing. It seems to work well and the Trident is very solidly mounted. I notice a few minor wear spots on the sheetmetal immediatly under the hood, that seem to be coming from the black plastic washers that come with the Trident. Nothing serious. I think you'll be pleased with this product if you decide to get it. Good luck.

Bought the Trident mounted it, and it looks good. All of the screws are not touching the hood underneath however. Is this a problem or is that the way it is supposed to be? It seems to be mounted firmly.
