Lightbulb Led Grille Lights

I am about to get some Grille lights for my 94 F150 i do some volunteer SAR so i am thinking about Red and Amber led's i saw something similar to this

http://strobeguy.safeshopper.com/80/2187.htm?848

The ones i looked at are cheaper but very similar

so what i am looking for is pictures of mounted led grille lights, they can be on or off.. which ever you prefer but if you have some other brand or color i would like to see them... Thanks

I also do volunteeer SAR and EMT, and am in the process of getting into a VFD, and these lights are great. My only concern for you is that they are illegal in the states without authorization for use, and that would be a little hard to come by (at least in my area.) But, if you're using them in the field, they shouldn't be a problem.

Definately go for the cheaper stock (around $60) The ones in the link are for undercover cops--they look like foglights until lit up... You can go for the colored lens and be fine.

BTW--What certification level (if any) do you have and what organization are you with?

Good luck With the lights.

im just part of the diving team with daphne sar (south alabama) but we do a few other things as well, its a pretty slow area and most of the calls are canceled before we can get to the rescue building and hook up the boat. but i dont plan to have them running while i drive out there, only the sar truck can do that. but once we are parked we can have the lights going. a while back some guys started running lights and the city changed the rule on that...

What do you have in your personal vehicle, then? (This is also in the work trucks post--didn't know which you'd check 1st)

I need to get some lights, as I'm joinung a VFD (today). I just don't know what's the best deal out there...Is it worth the cost of LED's?

Thanks

All depends on how much you want to spend!! I have a 911ep 12'' led dash bar light ( super bright). I am also running whelen Tir3 leds which can mount behind grills or on license plates and have a true blue color. If you can afford it get some leds, becareful some of the cheaper stuff is not as bright as some of the premium leds. I also agree strobes lose there effect in daylight.

I think hidaways are the way to go and they are also very easily seen in the daytime and at night, but the whelen talon LED are simply the brightest leds on the market IMO

im running a 60 Watt 4 strobe kit. head lights and tail lights. I also had so hide-away light mounted in my grill from sho-me,....they werent as bright as they should be (second the high end LED comments) and when you need to move traffic and dont have a siren it can be a pain in the ***.

So. with that, im upgrading to...whelen lin3 series for the grill, and the tail gate(mounted). Or the Code3 LED X. which ever the city wants to buy. Code3 are more so im not getting the hopes up.

i dont think my strobe kit (in high mode) is as bright as it should be in the day. but evening and night, they sometimes need to be kicked on low mode because in the highlight housing its very reflective and bright.

ill post pics of my strobe kit and then a pic when i get the new grill lights.

Anyone know a good hood mounted spot light?
i have seen some but they are kinda big and bulky (9x9x9) kinda big imo...

ideas?

i see my e-mail notification hasnt been doing its job...

currently i have a whelen dual dashmiser ($115.00 on ebay) and a whelen cps6-90 running 4 strobe heads (about $315.00 from strobesnmore.com). i am thinking about a 911ep 36" w/l, t/d to mount on the roofliner in the rear window, and some strobes in the corner lamps for better visibility from the side of the truck.

Fx4, do you all get to use a blue light when you respond to calls?

I used a angle iron about 1/16 to 1/8 thick painted it and installed to the fender clips just underneath the headlamps. I mounted my leds and strobe heads on it. Still debating on putting my hideway strobes in headlights and tails. I made a temp switch box out of a project box from radio shack not I like it though and have a switch mounted between my cig lighter and reverse sensor switch. My 911ep ls12 I wired to the switch in the panel and is powered by the heated seat plug for ignition on off.
