Regular K&N
Maybe just a hair better in performance, but not something that you are likely to see. You still have to deal with the bottlenecks that exist in the tubing between the housing and the fenderwell, as well as any restrictions that exist between the housing and the TB. Your intake may have more air available to it on demand because of the reduced restriction as compared to the traditional paper filter. This could result in better responsiveness. Hope this helps.
yup, preyhunter is right. Maybe 2-3hp @ the flywheel. It will feel a tad quicker..

I have actually felt no difference and doubt there is much difference in the milage, although I know there is deffinately no drop off. My main motivation was to save $$$ over the years by not haveing to buy and throw awoy the paper filters (they aren't cheap).
Here's the bottom line, get a K&N, it will only help your performance. And like MWKellner said, it will only save you money throughout the years cause it's good for a lifetime.

Two weeks ago I installed a K&N drop-in replacement and didn't notice any difference. This morning I removed it and installed the K&N FIPK, boy did I notice a difference.
I find the FIPK to ge a great deal, they even give you the filter re-charge kit. I was also surprised to find a $25 mail-in rebate coupon in the box too! But if you don't want to be that "radical" and just go with a drop-in, you can't go wrong. It's the last air filter you'll ever buy for that vehicle!

Thank you all for the info! Another question for ya. If you go with the FIPK (Airraid or K&N) will it produce noticeable noise and is it obnoxious? First thing that comes to my mind when I think of this type of air filter is when I was younger and would flip over the air cleaner lid on my air filter. BTW, this really is a great site!

These FIPKs usually give a throaty sound in the mid to upper RPM ranges. I personally like the sound. There have been reports by other members here that some of the FIPKs have a whistling sound as well, especially in the Airaids. Don't know if it is something that all of the Airaids for the V-8 do or not, but seems to be ok for those with the V-6.

I have the Airaid installed on my 2K Expy XLT (see signature). The only noise I get from it IS from the upper RPM range, and it sounds like air rushing in. I get NO whistling whatsoever. Did the installation myself in about an hour.
Now with the Jardine cat-back, any discernible noise from the Airaid is overwhelmed by my lead-foot and the exhaust!
:-)
Hope this helps...

Love em, love'em, love'em. This is my 2nd Ford SUV using those shocks. Prior to my Expy, I had a 97XLT Explorer. I upgraded to the Edelbrock IAS shocks and Michelin LTX tires. WHAT A DIFFERENCE on that vehicle!
Since I had such great results with that one, I decided to use them on my Expy. The first you notice on an Expy is the lateral body roll of this behemoth around corners. These shocks take a great deal of that roll out. In general, they stiffen the ride without making it harsh.
Even though I only had 4K miles on the Expy, I went right to the Edelbrock IAS shocks. To me they are worth EVERY penny.
As for improving my treads, I think I'm going to have to wear these POS's out before going to the Michelin LTXs.
If you need any additonal info, please ask.

Does anyone have any info on how well these K&N filters stop the dirt? I saw a video where paper filters, the K&N, and AMSOIL filters were comparedin a lab. The K&N let visibly more dirt through (could see it on white discs downstream). K&N has no information on their website or in their literature regarding their ability to stop dirt.
