Accel Ignition and MSD wires?
I was wondering guys if anyone knows about or has the Accel Super Coil. You can view the info at carparts.com. Any advantages or disadvantages. Also what is the cheapest price for a set of MSD spark plug wires. And the last question, Do you think the Poweraid
would help since I have the supercharger? Thanks guys, sorry for all the questions.

jackhel,
I bought a set of Ford 9mm wires for $85.00 and they are just great. My rough idle is almost all gone and the engine seems to be smoother. I do not think that MSD or ACCEL wires are worth the extra money. I do not know about the coil, i am researching that myself.

Ahhhh, MSD wires. I know a little about the subject since I HAD them. They actually don't make them for our trucks. I ordered a set from Summitt and they sent me Mustang wires. I thought what the heck I'll try 'em. I will say that I noticed a difference in power; however, the things kept popping off on #3 and #4. So I finally went and got the Ford 9mm plug wires, they work just fine and look great in Ford blue. Also, the MSD wires were too short, by taking shortcuts you can get them too fit but a few of them were tight on getting them to reach.

I just installed the Accell #140018 coil packs, no major improvements noticed. However, I am still running stock wires but plan on going to Magnacore wires in the next month.

jackhel, put your money towards the new wires and an ignition system. Forget the PowerAid you have the power with your supercharger, I would put a little more fire in the hole. From what I have seen most SC cars/trucks go with a system like the MSD or Accel 300. Another trick is to use a smaller gap on your plugs with this type of set up. The Mustang guys go from a stock gap of 55 to a gap of 35 with superchargers.

BigRed2, I might sound stupid but it never hurts to ask? Why do the mustang guys go with the smaller gaps on their plugs with superchargers. Thanks.

jackhel, here is what I was referring too from Musclestang.com. Their forums where a great resource until they took a dump at the beginning of the month. My guess is that with the increased pressure in the combustion chamber a smaller gap will ensure a good spark and combust all fuel/air in the chamber. One thing I don't know is if the Mustangs run the dual coil pack ignition like the Triton 4.6L. Some one had a thread under the engines section about this here on F-150 and it was the reason why you would want to use dual platinum plugs on the Triton 4.6L. The Mustang guys like to run NGK copper core plugs too, I don't know if that would be advisable with the Triton 4.6L.
This is a commonly asked question on the forums here at musclestang.
Generally, for modular engines, both Cobra and GT, for all years, the recommended setup is:
.054" for Naturally Aspirated engines (no NOS, Superchargers, or Turbos)
.032-035" for those running Power Adders
I will know more by June when I upgrade my plug wires and spark plugs.

I just have one more question. All you guys who have changed your spark plugs and/or wires, how long did it take? I know mine is really going to be a pain especially since I have that supercharger in the way. Any special tips would be "greatly" appreciated.
