MAFS Do they really help?

I've got a 02 f-150 sc 4.6l, I have the K&N FIPK, will a mass air flow sensor really help out much, I get conflicting reports on the internet. DOes anyone have one of these, if so which is the best to buy? Thanks for the Help.

Nope, only on supercharged really does it matter. I wanted the same, but everyone said don't on the MAF, the throttle body upgrade and even injectors. All of these really come into play after 400 hp's, in which case you'd supercharge to get even that. Save your $$$ for some kind of programmer or chip , e-fans, exhaust and especially GAS, as it's not cheap these days. I don't know what got into her tonight, but that old truck was quick off the line, from 1500+ rpm's. That was with A/C on too.

DO you know if the edge tuner is the best for just 87octane?

Can the aftermarket MAFS actually hurt performance?? I ask cause we put an intake and mafs in my girlfriends explorer a few years ago, V6 and she gets awful gas mileage. I still have the old stock mafs but the granatelli one was like 250$ or more, I don't remember exactly. Anyways should I swap it out??? Don't even know why we bought it in the first place! Seems like a gimmick.. what do you guys think????

If the new MAF sends different voltages to the ECU for a given amount of airflow compared to the factory unit, then yes, your performance and MPG may suffer unless you account for it with a custom tune.

A guy at Sean Hyland told me that actual gains were uncommon, and mostly lost power. They steered me into different directions, like procharging!!!

Wouldn't hurt. I'd do it just to see if the car's mpg increases.

gms are stated to be safe with stock tunes-this is known to be untrue-your air-fuels are leaned out-pk
