I am going to pick up my Supercrew this week.
I called around and was told that A.R.E. have the hard tonneau's for the Supercrew already done and that they are a few weeks from having the caps done.
Does anyone have any experience with the Roll-N-Lock covers? They seem pretty cool, kind of like a roll top desk thing, made of aluminum. I wonder how they'll do in the winter, when they have snow all over 'em.
I'm also interested in any advice on spray-on bedliners, alarms, and any other cool aftermarket stuff. Thanks.

Last I heard Applied Products had a prototype Retrax ready for the supercrew. My retrax has held up to 3 ND and MN winters now...I'd call that a test. I also checked out pricing...the Retrax was a little cheaper.

Thanks a lot.
I called the number and they were real friendly...
They just set up a web site a few days ago and it isn't on the search engines yet. www.rolltopcover.com
They already have tops for the f150 Supercrew. They're shipping out the first one tomorrow.

Funny you mention a top being shipped tomorrow. I think that is my top heading East. Tim Mulvaney had to go back to the drawing board on the first effort. We had discussed the design, but he forgot how the bed rails actually have a drop towards the rear. He had to bend the end peice to compensate and make a nice seal with the tailgate. After the top arrives I am going to post a full review in the Supercrew board. I have seen to many rolltop and Paceedwards models go to crap after a year or so. They look flimsy to me, though some people swear by them. The Retrax will reatail a little higher than the Pace and ,I think rolltop, but under the Specialized cover.

Can't wait to read your review. I would like to move on one of these covers right away, since I'm picking up the Supercrew this week and would like to get both the spray-on liner and the cover taken care of as soon as possible. A couple questions if you have a second:
1) Did you end up going with Line-x or Rhino for the liner? I'm still a little unsure.
2) I haven't heard anything about the Specialized roll top cover. Any info?
Thanks again.
Feel free to email me off list for any more "can't stop talking about my brand new Supercrew" talk.

There are two roll top covers being made for the supercrew. Roll and Lock and Retrax. Roll and Lock says they will have a product out in Mid May of 2000. Retrax is available now. I found out yesterday that Retrax now has launched a website. The address is Rolltopcover.com. The other two maufacturers have declined to make one for the screw citing design problems with this bed. The problems in making a roll top cover for the screw include the fact that the bed is 5" wider at the front than at the back and that the bed rails taper down towards the ground at the rear of the bed. I have spent a lot of time taking to the manufacturers and all I can say is do your homework before purchasing one. There are signifiant differences in design and technology and if you are investing almost $1000 you want to get your monies worth.
F150SuperCrew,
Just hung up the phone with Tim Mulvaney at RETRAX. Your cover didn't make the UPS truck tonight.(Maybe because he was talking to me.) It's going out tomorrow. He was very helpful and informative. The WEB site (www.rolltopcover.com)is helpful in understanding how it will work on a SCrew.
I hope you can photograph the installation and post it and let us know how you like it. I sure like it, but for $950 (+$40 freight), I'd like to know that all the design bugs have been engineered out of it.

I am going with a bedrug, which should be out in 2-3 weeks. (if this doesn't work, likely go with a spray in, liked Herculiner before)>
The top by Specialized is an electric model with in cab switch and a key remote. Retail is about 1400 around here, and as Supercrew pointed out they are in NO hurry to tackle the Supercrew bed!!
Supercrew!!!!!!
Damn you!....holding up progress here!!
I know, I know it is definitley a risk but Tim seems determined to get this right and I have a little welding experience so if it is outrageously out of whack I'll "snot-weld" the thing in!!!
Hope oit makes it by late next week and I'll do the install on Saturday of next week. take care and leave Tim alone!!!

I wouldn't worry about those guys screwin you on the top. I had one of the first tops and the Lexan material they used was different than it is now. After a year mine developed a stress crack. They replaced it with no fuss at all. Then again, part of the reason I went with the Retrax was because of the superior materials (and the 10 year warranty on the Lexan is nice too).
