e-fan trouble shoot

I'm sure there are plenty of threads on electric fans for '4 F150's, but didn't see 'em. Sooo, I am looking to throw on a dual set. I've seen running w/o a shroud & use 2x 12" fans ? I've got a 4.6L and I'm wondering if that set up will work (economical/functional) or will have to put out the big money & get a fan/shroud combo? Sorry if this is a repeat & I apprecciate any helpful input that ya'll may have!

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking...are you asking for a dual e-fan setup w/o shrouds?? Or are you asking for opinons on any and all e-fan setups?? Check out my sig...there are two links for my Troyer e-fan install..

Sorry I couldn't be more help..

Apprecciate the directions. I'm just trying to see a tried & true setup either w/ or w/o shrouds. Thanks for any input guys & gals!

Flexalite 270 is a bolt-on unit with shroud. Comes in a kit with everything you need.

It does work well with out the shroud, but there is no beating the FAL 270's, plus they work on 04+ f-150's too. Look deeper because alot of people on here have many different setups, so your choices aren't really limited.

Does anyone know how much (cfm) air our engines need to keep adequate temps?

Don't know exactly, but the FAL gives 5500 cfm's and is alot. It almost sucked my brothers cigarette through the grille. I would say under 3000 would do, but it will run for longer periods more often so...

What exactly does having an aftermarket fan set up do that the stock one does not? I have a 2001 F150 5.4 Lariat 4x4 would this benefit me and how? Thanks in advance for the input.

Benefits I've noticed:
-quieter engine
-more hp's, just noticeable
-A/C runs colder
-better mpg's, again just noticeable
-quicker warm up
-more cool crap for the 4x4
-way more room in front of the engine for whatever, belt changes, supercharger assemblies etc.
-manual switch for extended cooling after shut off

I think it would be even more beneficial if you have a trailer your towing, let's face it every little bit helps.

I made my dual e fan setup for about $100 and haven't had any problems with it.
