Need Code Alarm CA670 Install Help
I must say I've never encountered this much hassle trying to install something that should be pretty straightforward. I've finally figured out that the thing seems to memorize the polarity of the signals wrong unless you start with a completely closed cab, everything off, and then power it up from the battery (which as a matter of courtesy, blasts the alarm in your ear.
) I've wasted several hours coming to this conclusion.
Anyway, I started off trying to do some tricky things (surprize, surprize) but now have backed down to a pretty straightforward install. Door switches are dioded to the alarm input, power door locks to the body control module (BCM) door lock switch inputs, and arm/disarm to the door solenoids. Whenever I try to take it to the next logical step, using the disarm inhibit function (clearly labeled Unlock Switch Sense) the system starts acting wacky, for example: alarming on door switch lock, and not unlocking the doors remote unlock, and what the heck does 4 beeps mean anyway? It's not documented ANYWHERE!!!
My ears are starting to hurt from working on this.
Also, I've used a PATS3 Bypass. It appears to be hooked up correctly, I've followed the key 1, key 2, ground 'neg when starting' input and powered up the truck's ignition, but I can't get the ECM to memorize it's code. It's LED lights up fine in steps 1 and 2, but remains off when it should be transmitting it's code. Any special tricks? The truck starts fine if I hold a key near the ignition when it tries remote starting.
Here's what I need to know:
1) Has anyone got the Unlock Switch Sense to prevent the use of the interior unlock switch for disarming the system? If so, what did you do?
2) Any special tricks to the PATS3 bypass?
Thanks crudeau for the tip in another thread on the double unlock to wake up the BCM. I've not made it that far to worry about it, but you just saved me a bunch of time. You also mentioned that you used diode isolation to prevent the interior unlock switch from disarming? That would solve (1) above if you could explain what you did.
Thanks all,
