Norm, all you gotta do is run the wires going to the fuse box where the other wire harnesses are along the top of the firewall above the t-body. Unless your good with electricity, I recommend having someone there to do the wiring. After install, it seemed easier than first thaught. Mine was set by guessing and hardly ever comes on. The temp doesn't rise and after sitting idle, then it kicks on. I'll set it properly later when I get an infared thermometer unless it just continues fine. I feel more power for sure, but too early to tell gas mileage. Keep posted!

Blue,
Friday I installed the U/D pulleys and Monday put the Flex a Lite fan in. In a few minutes I'm going to Factory Auto Sound for the AC, Key On, and manual off switch wiring hookup. I purchased some door speakers there last week and mentioned some wiring Questions regarding the fan. He said bring it in and we'll do that part for you, no cost.
Sure can feel the extra power freed up by these two bolt-ons. On Sunday I'm leaving on 800km roundtrip roadtrip, it will be interesting to see what kind of mileage i've gained.
I'll keep an eye out for your truck.
Just had Rose City paint my mirrors and door/tailgate handles....looks nice.

Norm
5:30 pm- Fans are hooked up and all is coooool!!!!

Same here, $409 from Detroit Speed Shops, formerly Ramchargers. Called Monday, in tuesday direct from FAL. Unbelieveable how fast, worth the extra 10 anyday.

These fans scare people when they kick on, people don't know what the hell is going on. Had 2 tuner kids puzzled on either side of me and both looked scared.

Silly question but....
Are those pullies specific to the 5.4 vehicles or would ud pullies for mustangs work? I assume you needed a pully puller for the crank? Any SOTP gains? Thoughts?
Greg

To be honest, underdrive pullies aren't worth the money, maybe on a road race stang at high rpm's all day. I've thaught about them too and too many people say just that. I'm curious how Norm's making out with his. I could be wrong, but many people got rid of theirs for one reason or another. I also think mustang one's won't work, for one the belt may be too wide, but I think each is made specific to the engine. I think MAC or BBK has f-150 specific ones. Again, its just my thaughts. I would maybe post a new thread about the pullies and see what folks say.

Sorry I'm honing in on your messages, but I was watching this thread and thaught I may advise. Sorry Greg, just a PITA I'm bieng.

No problem with advice! I have had mustangs for 10 years and they were the normal bolt ons. I checked with Mac and March and they do not make them for our 5.4's, called ASP and was told that for the 5.4's they are a 2 pulley system, water pump and crank, the cranke being 25% less than stock and about 10 hp. Being a stang guy I asked if there was any difference between the 4.6 and the 5.4 pullies and was told the crank is the same but the later 5.5 engines have a different water pump pulley. I was told $199 for the 2 pullies but I will be checking on the various mustang web sites, you can find used pullies for 1/2 price all the time. I can't see spending $200 on 2 pullies but if I can find them for under $100 I may do it.

Hey Greg,
I think Troyer has the ASP's for $195 and as a member of this forum you might get a better price. Also I have seen them for sale in this forums classified's in the past.
In the past I have owned 2 Mustangs and I'm on my current second F150. Previously I have installed U/P in these four vehicles. Personally I have found them to made a difference, not alot mind you, but I believe every bit helps and adds up in my opinion. The most power difference in my current truck is at higher RPM's, thats where U/P shine most, but cruising speeds U/P free up only about 4-5 hp. Again it's hard to tell 4-5 hp on a 6500 pound truck, but again every bit does help. My truck certainly outperforms the stock version for sure! at all RPM's, including better drivability/performance and mileage. My other mods on 04 4x4 Crew:
6" Pro Comp lift on 35's
Superchip 1714
Flowmaster
True Flow Intake
Flex a Lite fans/ U/D Pulleys
JBA headers
Synthetic in engine and power steering

Norm

Blue: this is your original tread and I certainly don't mean to hyjack it but just trying to be helpful to other forum members with ?? with my own 2 cents

Norm

I posted a WTB in the classafieds and will be looking on the mustang sites also. If the trucks are rated at 300hp at the crank and at the most we can see 10hp then we are not even seeing a 10% gain...Makes me wonder if it is worth it...don't drink, don't smoke, married, Yep, it's worth it, need something to spin my wife up!

Norm, my fault man! I was throwing my 2 cents in on the pullies issue only because my brother had them on his stang and yanked them. Alot of others have said it's alot of $$ on a relatively stock engine. I however believe they may compliment the new fans in that they will probably hold the water in the rad longer allowing the fans to cool longer, I don't know. Anyways, you didn't hyjack nothing, these threads do this and always helps someone. See ya at Tim H- the symbol of Canadiana!!!
