radar detector/jammer question

Does anyone have one of the detector/jammer combos from rocky mountain radar?
I've read so many different things about them.
Like the radar roy site showing videos about how they don't work, then on other websites it will list a few fishy things about radar roy's videos and how they could have been staged.

I was wondering if anyone has any real world experience with one of these detectors/jammers?
Do they really work?

I understand it won't make me invisible to police and I don't make a habbit of speeding. I just want one of these so that when it goes off I can double-check my speed and make sure I'm not going to fast.
A jammer would be nice because a lot of cops around here have the instant on radar where it doesn't transmit until they hit you, which by then a regular radar detector is worthless.

Anyone have any input on these things?

Detectors are legal in most states (not all) - jammers are illegal in all states.

Just for fun I bought one of those Rocky Mountain Jammers from Ebay. Total cost was U$8 with shipping.
I opened it up and was 'intrigued' by what I found:
A big metal horn antenna.
A circuit board
A micro chip
A LED
A buzzer
And a switch that when pressed made the microchip light up the LED and beep the buzzer.

That's it. Oh, by the way, I've been a .mil Avionics tech for 20+ years when I opened that little black box so I do know what a ECM system is supposed to look like.

If you want a detector, get either the Valentine One or a late model Escort detector.

I have the rocky mountain jammer/detector. It works good as a detector but I dont think the jammer works at all. All the signs that read your speed still show what Im doing and they are nothing but a radar gun.....They shouldnt read right, if at all, if the jammer worked

Hey,

I have an Escort 8500 X50 and it has saved me so much $$$$. When me and my friends are driving together my radar detector is always the first to go off. I think the valentine 1 is just a little bit better, it has a wider detection angle, but I just hate the way it looks. Also the betronics (spelling?) is owned by escort or vice versa, so they basically use the same technology. The main difference between the high end betronics and the escort is that the betronics switches channels a bit faster. It does this by checking fewer channels. This is a good thing UNLESS the cops radar is slightly out of calibration, then your going to be screwed with the betronics. My room mate is a cop, and we have tested our 8500 X50's against some cheaper radar detectors from wal-mart and their is a HUGE difference. This is all information I have been told from reputable sources, but if anyone knows any of this to be untrue, please let me know.

I use a Beltronics Vector 965. It’s has “POP” technology and that saves my butt in the area I live because all the local municipalities try to outdo each other with the latest technology, and that can be a problem IF you’re speeding. I don’t usually speed but sometimes I drift up a little fast and a good detector helps a lot

Indeed, any advertised jammer likely won't work worth a fart, and any radar jammer that DOES truly jam radar is illegal in all 50 states.

Don't waste your money on a jammer. A good detector is a sound investment when used properly.

I know a guy with jammer setup on his 04 screw, there are two jammers hidden (sort of hidden) in the front bumper and one in the rear. He just got nabbed the other doin bout 95 because the cops radar gun read 0!!!! The cop had a thought he had a jammer and gave a real hard time, he searched the truck trying to find it. He didn't find it but still gave a ticket for an 'estimated' 90 in a 55, ouch! Sound like it could've been worse too! Moral is those jammers seem SKETCHY!!!

That will never hold in court! Tell your friend to fight it.

Radar jammers are not illegal. They are not sending out any signal. Just receiving the radar shot and dissipating it.

Show me a jammer that works without emitting a signal, and I'll show you a stealth fighter. You can't dissipate a radar emission without stealth technology or emitting a signal.

The only jammers I know of that actually work must emit a signal.

(And if there is a system out there that manages to do it without emitting a signal, I want to know more about it!!)

If it emits a radio frequency (which radar does) it's regulated by the FCC. Any emission not specifically authorized by the FCC is illegal. All 50 states have laws enacted to make enforcement their responsibility.
