Question Fog Lights to Use

I have a 1997 F150 that came with no fog lights in the lower front bumper. Does anyone have a recommnedation on the ones to use? Are there after market lights that will fit into the opening on the bumper. Is there a way to tie the high beams into the fog lights so they come on at the same time? Thanks for your help!

You can buy the stock factory one at your Ford Dealer, about $210.00 for all the stuff to put in. Plus you can wire to use brites w /fogs too. Check out the Tech. Articles in on the home page of F150 online. I hope this helps! Your Friend, Lariat 1

I have a 2wd 97 f-150. I also wanted the fog lights in the bumper, so I got a factory 4wd bumper and then put the factory fog lights in it. I then just installed a switch on my dash for the fog lights. With this set up, the fog lights can work with high beams also. The only problem that I ran into was blown fuses the first few days. Then I installed a heavy duty wiring set up from NAPA for high power lights.

Hi,I live in the Philippines. I ordered a Lauriat 4 x 4 lower valance and the original foglights from the local Ford dealer. The kit includes all wiring, brackets, foglamps, and factory switch. The Ford technicians installed everything while I sat in the lounge drinking coffee. Very good work. It really looks factory installed. Cost a lot though, $625 worth of local currency. But it's worth it. No regrets. But I know they don't have the Superbright bulbs for the foglamps. Its model #9145.

Danny,

The online store here at F150online does have them for the fog lights. Or at least did last time I checked.

Possum and others -

You guys must have a lot more money than I do to spend on fog lights - replacing the bumper and all. I took the cheap way out but I must say I like the look and the lights work really well. The beam pattern brightens the road out in front of my truck very well. In fact, I'd say I have a bit more control over the aiming of the lights and therefore the pattern. I live up a winding canyon road and this setup allows me to see not only what's on the road but what's off to the sides as well. We have many deer that like to run across the road unexpectedly. Here's a photo.

The process was simple. I lined up where I wanted the lights to be, cut an opening in the air dam, and mounted the lights to the bottom of the bumper. Be advised that there are two large frame members behind the air dam. I almost cut the dam without looking behind it first. The first spot I picked would have been directly in front of the frame members and I would never have been able to mount the lights. The lights I bought are made by Bosch and they have 100 watt bulbs that put out plenty of light.

Oh yeah! I have to tell you that my total cost for these lights was just under $100.00
This is just another way of doing it.

I was thinking of mounting some fog lamps behind the grill. I have an xlt 4x4 w/honeycomb grill. The truck already has fog lamps but want more. If you look behind the grill you will see a bar. That is where I was going to put some white pencil beams 4 I think two on each side of emblem. I think it would be different.

Merry Christmas, Akula

Steve g

The grill I have is made by Stull and its the polished model. They also have a model that has a brushed finish.

Its a tight fit and you'll say a few choice words while installing it.
