Locking Gas Cap

I was told by the dealer there is no locking gas cap available for the 2005 F150 crew 4x4.

So I wondering if there is an aftermarket part that would work on this truck?

I got a OEM Ford locking cap but you can get generic caps for less at parts stores

locking gas cap source

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

believe it of not Ford has an aftermarket website that has the little goodies that do not come on the vehicles such as locking gas caps, overhead rail system options and mud flaps

this site covers all the various Ford vehicles

site is called FORDACCESSORIES.COM

I looked and they have molded mud flaps for the F series both with and without the Ford emblems. The are molded to fit the specific vehicle

They even have locking gas caps for the F150's. I has asked about to a local FORD dealer's parts manager, who is pretty knowledgeable on obscure parts.
Since I work for a municipal government we have to secure all kinds of parts for older little used pieces of equipment usually found in large cities. We have a 1974 Ford C1000 pumper tanker that has a 534 cu in engine with a hugh 4-barrell Holley carbarator, the parts counter boys told our garage parts folks that it was no longer avilable and we needed to get rid of the truck. They called me and I decided to call the Ford dealers parts manager, he called Holley and got us one overnight, he did not charge us the overnight charge as his people should have done better. They looked in a book but did not research

He was surprised when I showed him the locking caps on Fordaccessories.com especially when I know he had asked because several of our departments were losing fuel when trucks were parked at home,
he had a lot of people wanting but his sources said no such part, he now stocks and avarages about 12-15 caps per week to various owners

Not true. I checked with my Dealer and it's a special order part (and as such, requires the $ up front). It was something crazy like $60 and a few weeks for delivery.
