Uhhh...why do you want a remote start? Is it too hard to turn a key? You're going to waste money.

And it's great when it's -40 and you would like to have a vehicle that will start when you're ready to go home from work, and the boss doesn't want you to have a plug-in.

for the blindman...
God... have u ever had one?
Do you live where the temperature is a constant 20C/70F ?

Where I live the temp can swing from 38C/100F
to -45C/-49F

Dont knock it till you've tried it... If you thought you were being funny, get a new sense of humor.

Command Start makes a great new "2-way" system, it will tell you if the vehicle has started and many other things. I love mine.

Cheers

Check out prostart.org

They make a variety of models, from basic start your car to start on temp., door locks, pwr windows, pager alerts, raise a ruckus alarms, trunk lock, tranny lock, etc.
Just remember, when you buy such a beast, you may have to also purchase the factory alarm bypass module.

And some models come with options.

I called my local dealer for a quote on installation. $500-$800 a whole day's labour. I paid about $70 for the remote starter kit. If it was summer, or if I had a heated garage, I would do it myself. There's lots of info on installation on the site.

I bought a Code alarm CA670 from autoalarmpro.com. The unit comes prewired and is fairly simple to install. It came with detailed instructions which made the install go very smooth. This was my first remote start/alarm system to install.

As for the as the unit itself, I like it. I would recommed it.

I have the Viper 791xv 2way alarm w/remote start..I know with this alarm/remote start that after driving somewhere i can push the button on the remote to leave the truck running ,take the key out and alarm the truck. This way i dont have to shut it off if i run into dunkin donuts to grap a cup o joe ...also the remote tells me if the alarm is going off beep or vibrate.

I never had one but my dad did. My dad has one for his Corvette and I think its a waste of money. I live where temps go from 100F to 10F.

You leave your defroster and temperature set to hi heat. The next morning when you get up to take a shower and you hit the start button. By the time you walk out to get in your truck the ice or frost on your windshield is gone and the truck is warm inside.

Now when you walk into a convenience store to get coffee on your ride into work you can leave your truck running and take your keys with you. It can not be stolen.

It also locks and unlocks your doors.

It pays for itself on those cold snowy mornings or when the sleet has formed a solid ice mass on your windshield. Then you hop in to a 75 degree truck instead of a 20 degree truck and off you go.

DEI rattler makes some nice ones. I know circuit city carries and installs them. I had mine for about 2 years. Main reason i bought it was to have the remote door locks. Has good range, and like said above its nice to be able to take your keys out and have the truck running for a minute or 2 till you come back.
