I am certain they have an application for you if it is indeed not the same as. What is your replacment plug number? If I remember correctly there is only one plug number listed for the 4.2L and the 4.6L. If so it would be the same Bosch #4459. Try the online quote thing above at Auto Medic Supply. They will tell you and give you a price. Remember free shipping on 8 only.
finally receive the Bosch +4 today, thanks to cphilip. The part number for my spark plug was 5548, which is the correct one for a 98. 5549 is for the 97, not sure about the 99. I called Auto Medic Supply back and the salesman told me of these information.

Don't know. Must be a typo on Fordsides part on my plugs. Mine are definately 4459. Fordside: please reconfirm your 98 info. But as he said He called and confirmed his. Tina confirmed mine matched what she used but you will note there was a difference in year models with Fordsides. I would call them at there toll free number if you wanted confirmation. Waht is your replacement ford number? Anyway,I am fairly certain you will need and get the 4459's for your 97, 4.6L as I did. I have not put mine in yet so I am not 100% yet but again Tina confirmed the 97 to be 4459. I will post here when I can be personnaly sure.
I'm really sorry everyone, the correct part number are 4458 and 4459,
4458 is what I got for my 98 4.6 and 4459 is for the 97 4.6. Once again I 'm sorry for getting your confuse.

Just got em in and they work good but you 97 4.6L engine owners need to know about the bad design of the OEM wires you have. I would not have known about this problem If I had not decided to change plugs at 45K. You will probably need to replace them. See my topic under engines for details.
In replacing my plugs with the Bosch plugs I have discoverd a problem with the OEm plug wires. they leak and water gets down around the plugs causing rusting of the plugs. The mechanic at Ford knew about it and said they have a new design to prevent this problem. Mine were rusting badly at 45K. See my topic under engines for details. You should not wait until 100K to check this and you will need to remove the plugs to see it. I do not know if it affects any other engine models or years besides the 97 4.6L.
Sorry for the two posts but the first one was lost somewhere in cyberspace and just showed up.

Thanks for the confirmation. I think what you are saying is put in new plugs and put in new wires at the same time like many from this site have done.

Yes, and more importantly do not wait until 100K to do it. And if you are by chance still under warranty ask them about the new wire design and see if it applies to yours and ask for the new ones.
