I just ordered a Cobra 75 WX ST which is a handheld compact model with everything on the mic. It has the SoundTracker system but do you think I would be better off with teh 148 GTL ST. I will use it a decent amount but I like the idea of only having to hide the mic when I leave the cab. Does anyone use a custom box to house their CB or do you know of any that exist. I'd rather not just leave it out in the open.

I have the 75wxst also. I hid it completely in the console.

I really like the cobra 148 gtl... it was peaked and tuned to 25 watts...... recently i added a 600 watt amp... what a powerhouse it is now... wow... It just sits out in the open,,, depending on where you live, I guess that could be a problem..took my radar detector out.. radio works well with the truckers lettin you know where the bears are at ... lol

Does anyone have the Galaxy DX 949? I can get this for only $10 more but it doesn't have anything similar to the SoundTracker technology or is the ST technology a load of bull?
Thanks,
Logan

The SoundTracker has a very similar audio effect as dolby noise reduction on tapes, i.e. it hushes and mellows the hash but leaves voices clear. I'd say it seems to work pretty good, but I admit not using my rig all that much yet.

Ransome, sorry it took so long for the reply, but I ran into some delays in installing the Cb antenna. I did tell you that I would get back to you though, and just want to say Thanks Again! for your tips on the removal of the headliner and trim. Everything went quite smoothly and I didnt damage a single part. Antenna installation looks professional and system works great!

I do not work for this company, I just want to give you a resource for getting more info about CB equipment and "tweaking and peaking". Try: http://www.copper.com /
They have a pretty good selection and plenty of books on how to "dial in" many specific radios including Cobra, Uniden and others.
I repeat, I don't work for them, I've just found their prices to be competetive and their catalogs informative.

I am glad I found this place. I have a 1997 F-150 Ext cab, 5 speed, 4x4 selector on the floor. I am looking for the best place to mount my CB and Uniden Bearcat Scanner. I also have two 4 foot k-40 whips I would like to install. Any suggestions would be helpful.
thanks

Do I have to get the sliding rear window to run the antenna cable through? Can the cable be run through one of the super cab windows and if so will it leak when it rains?
If the antenna is a permanent drill-through type does the cable just run through the roof?
Any general advice on CB's will be greatly appreciated. I want a nice neat and fully functional package but don't want to cause problems and don't want sloppy-looking wires all over the place.
Thanks for the advice!
