Cams for the 5.4 3v

I never hear anybody discussing new performance cams for their motors? Are they available, does anybody have any comments / experience with them?

With the motors having SOHC, they would be an easy install. Just wanted some feedback....thanks

I looked there man but doesnt look like they have anything available either. This motor is so new and probably isnt a lot of demand either for such components, might have to wait a little while.

Looks interesting....will these cams (when the 3v version come along) pass California Smog? That would be the only downfall.

Can’t the variable camshaft timing the 3-valve has be optimized through the PCM with custom tuning?

My guess is that they are mecahical based / rpm type like an old distributor. That would be the Classic Detroit approach to inovative siplicity. But somebody who knows for sure will come our rescue?

Aren't the new Mustang 4.6's 3V motors? If that's the case it will only be a matter of time before they have cams for them. The motors are pretty much identical except for the stroke. Only thing that concerns me is that I just had the cam phaser done on my 5.4 3V (actually twice) and both times they had to "evacuate the AC". Not sure if they had to totally remove the compresor to get to the cam or what......

They are not all that easy to install. You have to pull the front cover off the engine to remove the timing chains and tensioners - look at everything that has to come off to get that cover off. I saw a write-up on a cam swap on a 2v 5.4 and they gained about 10 HP up high (5000+rpm), but they lost a bunch of torque under 3000 rpm.
