what performance mod next?

I would like to get alittle more performance out of my 4.6. So far i have a k&n intake flowmaster exhaust and a superchips tuner installed. I am willing to spend in the area of 400 bucks. Some of the things i have been lookin at are, 75mm throttle body, underdrive pullies, e-fans. I am also considering getting a shift kit. What should i go for first? If you have any other ideas let me know!!! Thanks for the help!

Supposedly, the “bang for the buck” mods go as follows

1. Tuner
2. Intake kit
3. cat-back exhaust
4. under-drive pulleys
5. e-fans .../... and the list goes on and on according to the size of your wallet

do a search on the particular mod you’re interested in because chances are someone has already done it and posted their impression of it here on the forum

Another suggestion would be give Troyer Performance a call and talk with Mike about your truck and what your expectations are. He definitely knows what’s what when it comes to making hp for F150’s

Troll around the “Chips & Programming” forum too, lots of info there

If I were you, I'd go with e-fans. There's a post where they freed-up 16RWHP. Plus your AC will work better at low speeds, and your truck will be quieter when the fans aren't on (and even when they are on, they don't have the same roar as the factory fan).

I'm not crazy about pullies but that's just me. It gets hot around here, and spinning my AC compressor slower (like while sitting at a light) doesn't appeal to me. Pullies combined with e-fans may be OK in this situation, IMHO. But pullies do provide proven gains, but I'm not 100% sure how much.

For a little more $$$, and depending on what gears you have now, I think a shorter rear-end could provide the most bang for your buck. Especially if you go from, say, a 3.31 or a 3.55 to a 4.10 or a 3.73. You're talking about a significant increase in torque multiplication depending on what you are starting with.

OK! How much can i expect to pay to switch from my 3.55ls to an 4.10? It is a 4x4 so i would need to do the front and rear, but I am not plannin on getting a lift or bigger tires so i dont think i would want 4.56 correct? What kind of power gain can i expect to get in switching from a 3.55 to 4.10? I have the 4.6 with K&n in take, flowmaster exhaust, superchips programmer, and bbk 75 mm throttle body. With electric fans, pulleys and other mods to come..

You're looking at around $1500 for a 4x4, underdrive pully's free up arpund 11 horses, I would go with the fans first, not only power increase but they also improve throttle response. IMO that would be the best mod to get. And changing gears won't add horse power they just improve acceleration because it doesn't take as many rpm's to turn your wheels over

E Fans would be my pick. They work great, and have all the benee's listed above.

Per Mike T., e-fans and pulleys together give 25 HP at the wheels on an Non-PI 4.6L, as well as better fuel economy. If you'd seen the HUGE / HEAVY thing I pulled off my water pump pulley today, you'd see why.

What did you notice out of them man? Sound and performance. Worth the cost and labor? DIY? What is the rest of your exhaust setup? Thanks!!!

Cool

they add some perforformance not sure how much maybe 15-20 hp. i have the pacesetter headers then the cats to the flowmasters 40 series si do 90 degree angle behind the tires they do give a little extra rumble. I think they are worth it, it did take some time for me to install.
