Question Performance Question.

I have a 97 f150 4.6l 5spd reg cab. It's has an Airaid, power pullies and a glass pack. I went to the track last night and ran a best time of 16.35 in the 1/4mi. Does that sound about right to yall and do you have any tips to help me bring that down at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Another performance item would be the JBA Headers.... Information can be found at the F150online.com Digital Marketplace Store

Dear BAD281V8,

The single best bang-for-the-buck power gainer you can add is the Superchip. It will add more power than headers or the Airaid unit, and works well with both of them. Most guys are getting a half-second or more reduction in 1/4 mile times using the Superchip. We just had another F150online member post before and after times on his V-6 F-150 using the Superchip, and he got a .97 second reduction in 1/4 mile time, almost a full second! Nothing else comes close to that kind of gain for anywhere near the cost of the Superchip.

The 3 best areas to modify, in terms of getting the most power per dollar spent, are: 1.) Superchip-26 hp & 40 lbs./ft. of torque on the 4.6, $265 list, and much less for F150online members, call us for details. 2.) Exhaust - cat-back system - Gibson's is about $300 and gets you about 10-12 hp, I like Jardine better, same price but more power, maybe 14 hp. 3.) Intake - Airaid kit, 10-12 hp, available right here on the F150online store, and at a great price, too!

Those three areas will add an easy 50+ hp to your 4.6, at a cost of under $700.

Then from there, the next step would be headers, then start working on the ignition.

I would suggest that if and when you go to headers, make sure to have them Jet-Hot coated, it's well worth the money, and I think you can get them here at the F-150online store too!

Good luck, and let us know what you do!
