Just finished a 1300 mile trip and have decided I need to get my windows tinted. I have called all local retailers and all are priced from $164.00 - $175.00. Has anyone had this done, do these prices sound reasonable? I am looking at 35% side and 5% rear. How about anyone done this themselves? Easy? Hard? Where did you get the kit? Otherwise it ran awesome!! 17.5 - 17.9 MPG on interstate at 75 MPH. Thanks for any info,

I have done my previous ride and another car. On my F-150 I paid to have it done. I was able to watch and the guy at this shop was like a doctor. He placed the tint material on the outside to make his patterns then went inside to apply it. I think your price quote is right on.

It takes a little practice but tinting your truck can save you some money and make you money if you get good. My cousin and myself did mine (he did most of the work, I keep his drink full and handed tools and such). We got the film from a tint shop (Make sure to get the stickers to verify the shade). I'm Not sure if that quote is very good. It may very in different regions though. Here in Texas I was quoted on my old tuck $150 and it was a Super Cab with Slide window. I'd shop around. Just my 2 cent.

Ditto what Mumbly said. That sounds very high for a reg. cab. You can do it yourself, but you gotta have a steady hand and be prepared to mess up one piece(I know I usually do). The glass is pretty straightforward on trucks. A helper is always good too if you have the one piece back window.

I've got a supercab and got all the windows tinted including the strip on the front window for $85.00. Of course this will be very dependant on where you live. I live in Saraland, Alabama just north of Mobile, Alabama which has a low cost of living. Don't know if that helps or hurts but it is the way it is!! The place that did mine is called "The Tint Shop" and is in Saraland, Alabama. They do very good work!!

Anything above $100 is too high.

I paid $35.00 to get my door windows tinted to 35%. The quote for all 5 windows was $90. Since I already had the factory tint on the rear 3 windows, I just got the front two done. The lady that installed the tint did the best job I've had on any of my 6 previous vehicles.

BTW - I am also from Texas.

Dont want to go against others Ideas but if I were you I would pay to have this done. Correct window tinting is not easy and you can have problems down the road. If you ever have to scrape that crap off you will know what I mean. Sounds a little pricy so shop around. You should be able to get it done for 100-125. I have had it done a few times on my vehicles and it is a skill. If you mess it up and then take it to get repaired, they will reem you out. Take it somewhere that offers a lifetime warranty.
