Painted dash pieces

I love the look of the Lightings interor, I was wondering if anyone has painted their interor pieces to make them look like the lightings. I was wondering if you needed to prime the pieces before you painted it, or is there a specical paint I should use. thanks for any info

also does anyone have any pics? even if they are lightings, so I can get an idea of what exactly to paint

I used Krylon Fusion spraypaint. No sanding or priming and it looks pretty sweet. Hold up nice too.

I painted the radio trim thing, the part the the power window/lock buttons are in, and the inside door handle buckets

Below is the dash surround from my Lightning (actually a reg F150 dash I bought at a junkyard). I used a paint that mimics an anodized aluminum finish...forget the brand, but it's available at AutoZone. Comes in a bunch of colors; don't forget to use the "groundcoat" primer under it.

Also used this same paint on my brake calipers.

I sanded mine; not fun! But if you use a Dremel and a lilght touch, you can get the texture stuff off pretty fast and easy.

Now all I have to do is get inspired enough to finish th tailgate handle for the Lightning that I bought 2 yrs ago. It's got some sanding done and shouldn't take too long to finish. No hurry since I can't paint it outside until the weather warms up.

I would also llike to paint the arm rest pieces in my L cab, but haven't been able to find any junk ones yet.

Ah, they just pop off on the L. But there are so many arm rest variations out there, you never know.

easy mod(if you dont sand them).

i used a gray primer, body colored Duplicolor paint, and Duplicolor clear wheel coating as a clearcoat. i went back later and did the clearcoat so some of these pics dont have it.
