OEM Bed Extenders..............

(may be the wrong forum but....)

Does anyone know if it's possible to install an OEM bed extender into a 2000 F-150 Lariat Flareside?

Good question,
I have the extender but there is no way to clip it on. I went to ford and they looked at me like i was crazy.
it seens that if you get the pins that the tailgte locks on to. then mount it to the inside wall of the tailgate. it coud work. But two things don't look good. one- there going to stick out in the tailgate opening, interfering with the 4 foot opening. two- mounting them will not be an easy task. There is know place to get a wrench in the well to tighten the bolts.

if you find an easer way please let me know.

good luck

After reading endless posts about Bed Extenders, I don't think I've ever seen this question come up...

My hunch is 'no' though. I've used my dad's SCAB several times... thinking back to his truck vs. mine, I think his is a tiny bit wider across the rear end.

I may be wrong though and I certainly look forward to hearing someone with a definite answer.

I believe that RP is right. I have a flareside and I am almost 100% sure that it is slightly narrower than the fleetside. The tailgates are not interchangeable. Therefore the bed extender is probably different. Try a parts locator and see if the stock # is the same for the two different styles.

RP I think you're right the regular box trucks are a tad wider accross the tailgate than the flaresides.

I supposed this could be a cheaper alternative.

What about the supercrew extender? Are they the same width as a styleside bed? I have been considering this add-on also.
