Lights for the truck bed

Recently installed a tonneau cover and now am thinking of installing some lights to illuminate the cargo area. Anyone have suggestions? I have seen some clamp on undet the rail battery powered ones on the web and was wondering if anyone has tried this.

I am thinking on doing the same after I get my tonneau cover installed. I have some lights from NAPA that they use on 18-wheelers for license plate lights. They are about 3"x1"x1" and have two white bulbs in a sealed case. They are the TruckLite brand, Model 19. I think they have them in LED style now too.

I picked up a 12 volt light at AutoZone that is about 4-5" round with an aluminum base and a frosted looking cover. It's low profile at only 1 1/2" or so thick and uses an 1156 bulb. Mounted it in the center of the tonneau cover and it works great. It's bright enough that I can work behind the truck when I need to. Here's a pic of the switch. Crappy picture but the switch is on the left and I added a water-resistant 12volt outlet on the right.

I haven't taken a pic of the light since I put the headliner in the tonneau.

Sorry for the crappy picture. The yellow looking thingy is a water-resistant 12 volt power point with the cover open, and the switch is right next to it. The light is actually mounted on the underside of the tonneau cover in the center.

I'll get some pics up of the light and a better pic of the switch/power point sometime this weekend.

Here's a little better pic of the switch, 12 volt recepticle, and pin switch for the alarm. The switch and recepticle were wired in from the rear behind the tail light. The light wiring is in the wire loom in the pic. It goes behind the bedliner to the front of the bed, and then up under the headliner to get to the light.

Here's a pic of the light:

Hey RP,
Thanks for bringing up a good point. I have one of the old Sony digi-cams. It's probably 8-9 years old and was pretty expensive back then. It is definately time for a new one!

Speaking of TIS, I haven't seen you come through there in a while. Isn't it about time for some new mods?
