Ventvisors- tape or snap in?

What's the best way to go with the Ventvisors for the side windows? I've never used them and they have two different models - one that tapes on and another that snaps into the window channel I think. Any pros or cons?

I have the tape on ventvisors. I locked my keys up one day. And I was lucky enough to have left my window down about an inch. I took off the drivers side ventvisor to get in, because I could'nt get a coathanger in the crack above the window with it on. I got in ok, but my ventvisor was, well let's say it would'nt stick to the truck anymore. I found some replacement tape called 3M adhesive double sided tape at WAL-MART. It goes on just like the original tape. When I got finished with it, you can't even tell it was taken off. I never really cared for the snap-on type. I hear some of them will leak. Just my 2 cents.

I have the stick on ventvisor brand. Had them for 2 years and they still sticking fine. Might take off the rear ones cuz they don't really do much, but not sure yet.

Anyway, the reason i like the stick on ones better than teh snap in, is because the stick on doesn't stick on the paint like alot of people assume, it sticks on that weather stripping trim around your window. With the stick on type, it goes over this, and just looks better IMO cuz there's less of that dull black trim. the snap in type doesn't cover this and you can see the whole black trim around the outside. just a little detail, but i'm picky.

here's a pic of brook's visors, hard to tell cuz his windows are tinted, but you can see how the visors cover the weather stripping and not stuck over the paint because you can see where the vent visor ends and the weather strip starts up

I have the snap in. They are simple to put in, work just like the original ventvisors, and there is no tape to damage the paint. There are no leaks or problems with the windows either. They would be pretty easy to steal if you left your window all the way down, but then the whole truck would be also. I will post pics soon.

I have the VentShade VenVisors, and the tape never touches the paint. It goes on the outside of the window seal (weatherstripping). One time, it was raining HARD, and they came off, put them back on with that 3M double-sided tape, and they have been on for 2 years with 0 complaints.

I went with the sanp in this time.

Last truck had the tape type, and after ~ 6 years the tape had little gaps in the cross section of the tape.
While the vent visor was no where near falling off, this created a little channel for water to drip down, and inside the truck. Kind of defeated the purpose of the things. This was a vertical hannel through the horizontal strip of tape, if that makes sense.

The channel was right where it would drip on my elbow.

Is there going to be a problem with the sanp in after ~ 6 years....got me they are only ~ 19 months old right now.

Steve

i have the snap in type and i am very happy with them.

asthetically i think they look 'cleaner', and i have never had a problem with them. they have been on the truck for several years.

below is the link where i got them from.

they are made by the ventshade company. You can get them anywhere. I got mine through the napa i used to work for. I think they were about $45, but not real sure. They are pretty dark and match the rest of the black on the truck pretty well.
