I'm from Anchorage, but I do spend half my time in Dutch Harbor! Can't believe there's a fellow F-150 fanatic out here!

 

I'll be in Fairbanks(Ft Wainwright) in Oct. Can anybody tell me what all I need to add to my truck to winterize it. I've been told I need a heater for the block, oil, tranny. Do I need all of them? Thanks for the help.

 

Fairbanks gets cold. You better out -70 below antifreeze in your truck as well for the winter, no joke. Its recommended for up there.

 

We flew into Ketchikan for work over the summer -- out into Misty Fjords National Monument. Heck of a big molybdenum deposit where we were doing some environmental stuff - largest known deposit in the world, in fact...

That last Beaver that crashed up there -- I was on it the DAY BEFORE it killed 5 people (Seawind Aviation)

Beautiful country up there... I'm not sure I'd want to be up there this time of the year though. HA!

 

Lived, worked and got out of Anchorage and into the bush (every chance I got) from 1984 to 1999. Came close to being killed, shot, lost, drowned and eaten on more than one occasion. If I could do it over again? Wouldn't change a minute of it!
