Wet 9 months out of the year great summer. From Portland you are only an hour or so from the mountains or the beach.Lots of good food and friendly people.

Portland is one of the best cities I have ever been in from food to events to just living. It does rain a lot but it does almost everywhere here on the west coast.

Very wet in the winter, October thru March. Beautiful summers. Lots to do if you like the outdoors.

Some other observations: Very liberal in Portland area. Expensive housing. People who don't know how to drive worth a damn! Messed up school budgets.

Of course these are my opinions only. Of course there are exceptions to the rule.

There is great beer, great food. You are about 2 hours from the coast about an hour from the Cascades. People drive like morons, on the west side of town. If you like to hike, you won't find many places that beat it.
House can be expensive, if you are buying right away, research heavily, there are some great deals out there. Vancouver, WA, across the river, has more affordable housing, but you have a lot of meth monkey's running around too.
