2012 headrest dvd players

Ive been trying to find an answer to this but havent had any luck so decided i would just ask.

i have a 2012 f150 fx4 and had the option to get factory headrest dvds but opt'd not to. Since then i have changed my mind and purchased some after market ones.

what im trying to find out is if the factory wiring is still in the seats if i chose not to get the headrests factory installed? Not sure if it matters but i have the leather option with heated/cooled seats.

if the wires are not in there does anyone know if there is a power source i can tie into close by instead of running a wire all the way up to the fuse panel?

thanks in advance for any info....

I ran mine down under the carpeting to the back side of the center consol. I use the cigerette lighter so that I can unplug it when I need to and that way the kid doesn"t leave it on and drain the battery. I would invest in one that has ir headset so that you can listen to your tunes and not a kiddy movie. You can usually run an input to the the front unit to listen to the movie if you want. Wish they had this when I was a kid!

As far as I could tell there was'nt any factory wiring. I bought RCA tv's and ran the power cord down through the headrest hole [not the hole the bar goes in but pulled the leather back just a bit from the base the rod slides into] to the bottom of each seat and then tucked the wire between the carpet and console to the 12v cigg outlet. The RCA's had a double cord that powered both tv's . It's not easy to fish the wire through and not sure what it is but something is REALLY sharp in there. I also took the strap that is suppose to go around the headrest, punched two holes for the headrest bars to go through and mounted them that way. Hope this helps.

I dont think you're pre-wired for dvd's. Not to mention aftermarket and Ford would have different connections.

Cool

You can check out my albums for pictues of the interior with the DVD headrests I've got. When I ordered my F150 I ordered DVD headrests. I thought I would be getting the ones on display at the dealership. They were called 'InVision" I think? I got a set called "Roadview". They are an entire headrest unit with the DVD built into it. And I got my factory headrests back too. Plus, these have a Zip cover with a flap that conceals them, and they came with headphones, adapter wires, etc.. It is wired into my Nav. system. When I raise the seat up I can see a solid black wire come down thru it and into the center console. So I'm guessing that they are a "dealer" installed item. You can watch a movie playing in one unit on both at the same time, or two different movies. You can listen with the headphones or thru the trucks audio system thru an FM radio signal. Only thin is though, I'm not a computer guy or tech geek. So if I don't use them frequently I can't remember how to set them up and use them. It's so frustrating. And the volume level of the headphones doesn't seem to be that great. Maybe a better set of headphones will help? Any way, If I was a geek, and had better volume, they would be awesome. But I'm just and Old Fart..............
