Sync USB & USB2 resume?

I'm not sure if anyone has had this issue before, or if it's made to be this way, but its getting on my nerves.

System: Sony and Navigation package

1) Plug ipod into USB port (and I also tried the USB2 port with this and had the same results).
2) Tell sync to go to USB (or USB2).
3) Tell sync to play all songs.

Songs load and start playing.

4) Turn vehicle off, go into the store, come back out and start the truck up.

Sync is now on Line In and I have to repeat steps 2 and 3, and now it lost my place where my music last was, what songs I had listened to, etc.

I dont unplug the ipod or USB cable, it just happens whenever I turn the truck off and then come back out to it and turn it back on.

I've also tried this with just a USB stick with some songs on it and I have the same results.

Help? Thanks

I have had a similar experience as well as completely losing the ability to communicate with USB, Phone, Media, voice, etc. and the only thing I have is AM radio. Key off, wait a few seconds, key on, now everything is working. It has happened twice in the 3 weeks I've had the truck.

I will say this -- USB2 seems to "stick" for me most of the time.

This is a known issue with 2011 trucks only. Mine does it very periodically but not very often. Maybe 2-3 times a week at most. If you search around and read, you will find that more people are having this problem, but the last I checked, Ford did not have a solution for this issue.

Note also that this is not a problem on the 09 and 10 trucks that I know of.

I have found a "solution" that works, but not well. In the settings you MUST set autoplay to "on".
The problem i have with this (and the reason it was turned off in the first place) is that when you're switching inputs, it will autoplay everything it attaches to, namely my phone.
Now, I find it completely moronic of Ford to have a single global variable that controls EVERY input with the same settings. What "should" happen is to make each input have it's own individual settings. Bluetooth, no auto play. USB2, yes auto play. It's not that hard. Grrr....
The reason I say its a "solution" is that even though it will now autoplay all the music, and resume the last song from it's previous position... It will re-shuffle all the music and start the song at position 1. Quite annoying.

Thank you for the responses, at least I know I'm not alone in this.

I have the same problem using playlists on my iPod. Its gotten a lot better after the most recent sync update but it is really annoying to me that it will disconnect at least once per week and I have to start the playlist over again. I have a 444 song playlist that I'll never get through. The integration of Sync and Nav into the vehicle are genius technical opportunities, with terrible implementation. It is a real shame to have such great technical offerings fall on their faces with such basic functionality issues. Oh what I'd do if I were put in charge of those design elements at Ford!!

I don't think its all ford's fault......Microsoft and the auto insurer group had their hands in this too.......I know their design implementation is much to be desired but this is far better than my 6disc in my 2006........
