Question 09+ NAV updates?

So while I was at the dealer I asked about how Navigation updates are conveyed and performed as I have never been notified of updates and the truck is now 2 years old. The service rep nor the manager had no idea how it works; in fact, the service rep said "go to any map service and download their maps to update your navigation..." Uh, yea, uh huh... riiiight.

SyncMyRide doesn't show any thing regarding updates for the navigation system.

My iPhone navigation apps have gotten consistent and numerous updates over the past couple years.

There's been some reconstruction of some on-ramps near my house and the F150 NAV always is telling me "to make a u-turn as soon as possible" because its maps are outdated for that stretch of road.

This is just confusing and frustrating that even the dealership has no clue.

You have to buy the map updates for like around $200. I have an '09 also and might wait another year to update or buy a new 2012. I'm frustrated that you can't do any other updates because they say the 2010's had a hardware update that's not compatable with the '09 units. So much for the selling point of being able to easily update your system !!!!!

What kind of updates you looking for?

I joined up here>>>click link>>>www.syncmyride.com

I used a usb thumb drive to download their recomended updates using their website and my computer and used the usb port in the vehicle to upload them.....I don't know what all the updates were about but I did see a couple of map files and it didn't cost me a thing.....

I'm already subscribed to SyncMyRide, but I've never seen any map updates through that service.

But it sounds like you have to purchase updates from Navteq.
