Another Back up Camera Question???

I bought a p3200dvd from pioneer and got a Pyle PLCM11IR backup camera for it. This camera is designed to be a flush mount camera and ill probably install it to the left of the license plate. Ive read so many threads on here about camera install questions that im now confused myself.

I was planning on mounting the camera and running the power to the left back up light on the tail light assembly matching the red with red and black with black obviously. And then the video cable to the input on the receiver. When the truck is put in reverse this should give power to the camera and send signal to the h/u. Why should i have to look for wires in my kick panel? Is this not the right way to install it?

You need to power the camera when in reverse and you need to let the head unit know when you are in reverse so it can switch to that input.

i was under the impression that if i run the power wire and ground from the camera to the back up light that i would give it power. why woulndt it? And i believe there is a setting on the 3200dvd that you can set to make the camera come on under power.

your head unit should have a reverse input signal wire on the back of it..that wire will need to be hooked up to the reverse light wire so the tv will know when the vehicle is put in reverse..wire should be located in driver's kick panel..

i have an 07 lariat. So in addition to running the pos and neg to the back up light i also need to run a wire from the reverse light wire from the radio's harness and the back up wire. that makes sense now....do you happen to know what color the wire is?

For the camera itself you will need to tap into the reverse circuit power either at the taillight or at the 7 pin trailer harness and the ground it to the frame. Then the AV wire up to the head unit.
The last pioneer I had used a purple wire to sense reverse. This doesn't power anything it just tells the radio to change to that input. Plug in the av lead to the right spot on the head unit from the camera and you should have a working system.
I know what a 3200 is but I have never used one but I just did a sony in my wifes car and it worked the same way as her previous pioneer.
There is a reverse wire in the passenger kick panel (edit: as mentioned flamed20) but I don't remember the color. I think I may have posted a pic for my reverse lights but I didn't check again.
Hope this helps.
If you are installing from scratch buy a wiring plug for the factory harness then splice the radio harness into that for a clean and removable setup. I solder these connections whenever possible.

Let me clean this up for you.

When you hook up 12v (use something switched like accessory or ignition. Red on the radio harness) and ground the camera will always be on. The only thing hooking up the reverse wire does is switch the input on the screen to the camera. Many screens that allow reverse in, will also allow you to view the camera at anytime w/o being in reverse.

The reverse camera wire is black/pink in the drivers door sill. Pop off the sill cover and look for the wire in the wire loom that splits off and looks as if its heading towards the seat/center console.

This install actually went pretty good. I put in a relay for the parking break wire as well, along with installing the back up camera. Everything works great. The only problem i ran into was getting power to the camera in the back. I ran the power off the drivers side back up light and used inline connectors. The wire that came with the camera was so flimsy that it didnt get a good enough connection. I ended up taking them off and using heat shrinking clamp connectors instead.

I have an ’05 F-150 Screw and have purchased the following equipment.

Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD
Scosche Fdk11b Wiring Harness
Pyle PLCM10 License Plate camera with Night Vision
Pioneer CD-BTB200 Bluetooth Wireless Adapter
Pioneer CD-SB10 Sirius Bus Interface
SCC1 Sirius Satellite Radio System

I have soldered in the brake bypass and it works great but have had problems with the Sirius, Bluetooth and Back up camera.

• I have located the wire used for the back up camera it is purple/white and labeled as such. What do I connect this wire to? The Scosche Fdk11b wiring harness does not have this color wire. I assume the black with pink stripe in drivers kick panel, right?
• On the camera itself, besides the yellow a/v plug wire, I located two flimsy wires, black and red. Black wire to the frame and the red wire goes to what color wire in the 7-pole plug? Is this the best method?
• Where is the best place to route these wires to the outside of the truck?
• Is it best to solder all ground wires together to the harness, the frame, or separate locations on the frame?
• Is it a bad idea solder all yellow wires to the harness, interior fuse block, or preferred to run the yellow wires with fuse to the battery
• The factory head unit is supplied with a rubber bumper that fits into the back dash support. Do I reattach or use a mount strap?

Any assistance would be helpful. Thanks...
