Nav/DVD/ect recommendation for 2006KR?
Just looking for recommendations for a Nav/DVD/ect in-dash unit for my 2006 King Ranch. I'd really like it to still work with my steering wheel controls installed too. Of course things like bluetooth, usb, etc would be nice bonuses too. Just not sure if I should be looking for an aftermarket unit or try to find the OEM unit on ebay or something.
I just finished an install of a Pioneer AVH-P3500 DVD with NAV add on. It is also able to run back up camera, and bluetooth, as well as additional screens, and XM and HD radio. It is expandable and completely customizable. So far, it is awesome! I have a Bazooka tube that I had been running through an adapter to the factory head unit.... I could never get it to sound the way it was supposed to. Don't get me wrong, it sounded fantastic compared to the factory system without the tube but it still wasn't balanced.
As far as your steering wheel controls.... there is a module that you plug into the head unit and wire to the truck harness. It is programmable and ALL your steering wheel controls will be retained. The one I got is a PAC-SWIPS. It is available at Amazon. The head unit and nav were purchased from Crutchfield. Yes, they are a little more expensive, but with all the extras that they give you for free, it is worth it! They give you the harness (so you don't have to cut your factory one), the install kit for the dash, and all the paperwork with detailed instructions on how to take everything apart. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Total price was just over $500. I already had the speakers (which sound 10X better now)
