Ford emblem cam FRONT facing

So, I thought it would be cool to install an emblem cam on my grille, front facing to see parking stumps and curbs etc. Got the cam all wired in, nice clean install, hooked it up to my Alpine iXA-w407 and Tada!...it works, except...the image is REVERSED!!

I know, I know it's a backup cam...but I was under the impression that the head unit reversed the image not the cam. So the moral of the story is, a OEM emblem cam will not work for front facing, unless you really want to mess with your head while driving with it on.

BTW, does anyone know how I could resolve this?

This camera on amazon looks like it's selectable normal/revers by a switch on the cord, maybe you could get a hold of just the reversing part: http://www.amazon.com/Accele-Electro...1429985&sr=1-5

How do you wire a front facing cam I'm interested in doing this?

I know the reverse is using the power on something like your taillights that is triggered by placing the car in reverse.

Is there a way to set it up so that you can select when you want to see the image using the factory nav?

I also saw some cool cams that claim thermal imaging but they were pretty expensive for what I'm wanting to use it for (parking).

Does anyone know if it's possible for sync and navigation to display another camera? Is there a second input? Is there any documentation on what's in there and it's capabilities?

Any help with this and or the post above would be greatly appreciated.

Look for a "lockpick" for the OEM Nav to enable the kind of stuff you're talking about.

You could use a Video selector switch (maybe even a simple DPDT switch - not sure about video interference that may result) to switch between the signals of front and rear cameras.

Have you looked at your headunits options/settings? My kenwood can reverse the image on the HD itself.
