Factory navigation making noise

My wife's 2008 Escape has factory navigation. The navigation DVD makes a spinning/clicking sound. Does anyone know what is causing this noise and how I can fix it? The car is 100 miles over 36k, perfect timing! Also the noise started when the weather turned cold. I isolated the sound by taking the disc out and putting it back. The sound returned immediately.

Nobody has any idea what causes this or how I can fix it? I don't want to spend $2k on a new system. Anyone else have the same problem?

Yes, and the noise is coming from the nav dvd drive. While using the radio, the NAV dvd is spinning and making the noise. I took the dvd out to stop the noise but I would like the get the problem fixed instead of masking the problem. Anyone else having this issue? Its an early 2008 (bought in May 2007) Escape with the factory touchscreen navigation.
