08 oem nav, USER DEVICE tab?

I recently purchased a OEM nav unit removed from a 2008 F150. The part# of the radio is 8L3T-18K931-DC. I know that I will have to have it programmed for my truck but my question is I plugged it in to make sure it works. Where the LINE IN tab usually is there is a tab USER DEVICE. When I push it I get a module error. Does anyone know what this may have been used for. In the F150 manuals it says that tab is for SYNC but I thought only the 2009+ trucks have this? I also think this may have been installed into another ford because the backlights stay on all the time and don't dim. The 8L3T is a 2008 F150 part# though. Thanks for any help... I tried to PM nothinbutaford who's name came up but he hasn't been online in a while and his emails get sent back to me.
Forgot one more question... is the sub out level adjustable? In the configuration screen it shows that the subwoofer is enabled and it plays in the speaker test but it sounds a lot softer than my audiophile unit even if I set the BASS at max.

I will probably be using this company listed on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I did email him recently with the same questions I put in my first post and he told me to call him so I will let you know what he says.
