My NAV/DVD install.. avic x910bt w/sirius
I just got done installing my avic x910bt and thought i'd share the experence.First let me say this..both crutchfiels and sonic are wrong..the factory sirius WILL work on the after markets..they both said the connectors were different but in fact if you remove the plastic cap from the square factory antenna end you will find the typical round sirius connection.heres a pic..
http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/x...k/DSC01605.jpg I mounted the gps antenna here.. http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/x...k/DSC01613.jpg I also made a shelf where the factory sirius was to put my pac steering wheel controls and sirius tuner.. http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/x...k/DSC01606.jpg I wrapped the unused rca cables to prevent any rattles.. http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/x...k/DSC01609.jpg Then I drilled a hole in the center console and ran longer RCA cables thru the console so I could just open the storage compartment and access them to hook up a ipod or itouch.. http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/x...k/DSC01607.jpg And this was the finished product.. http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/x...k/DSC01611.jpg Oh I also bypassed the screen so the wife could watch fantasic4 I of course I only listened to it :D Over all The pioneer Aviv x910bt works great.and i love the fact I can change the led button color to match the factory color. The navigation is teriffic in both 2 and 3d..the sirius works as it should and the steering wheel control are as good as the stock radio was.The splash sreen is cusomizable with your own pictures..and it plays video off my i phone. The only other thing I might ad is a hdtv..I have one bookmarked on e-bay and for the right price I'll ad it also. __________________ Posttal AKA Ralph Cleveland,Ohio 2006 F150 Lariat http://www.lorileedesigns.com/files/...phsCorner.html |
Great mounting spot for the GPS Antenna! I hope it works well, that would save a lot of annoying running of wires to the roof.
|
The kenwood GPS antennas are magnetic so thats where I put mine too.
|
I need stereo head unit mod in such a bad way. Nice product right there.
|
Looks great good job.
|
thinking i might go w/ this unit. where'd ya get yours from?
|
I'm looking for a wiring harness for the 09 lariat.
I may put in the z110BT unit. |

I downloaded bunch of them from AVIV411.com
its a good site for hacks, mods tips etc for pioneer systems. Then do yourself a favor and download Avicfeeds 2.0.You can use it to set the size of your splash screen pic as well as nav point icons. You can also plan a trip, save it to sd card and when you plug the card in it will set you navigation points.I use it just for the splash screens. |
Avic411 is a great site, makes the unit so much more pleasant to use. Do you mind linking that splash screen though, I love it!
|
Send me an e-mail address..I'll return it to you.Send it to.. posttal@hotmail.com

I just ordered the Pioneer Z110BT.
I need to know what wiring harness for my 09 Lariat SuperCrew and from where. Can some please help? I also need I guess that PAC SWI-PS unit. Yes? |
I have the Z series myself and I love it. I'm not sure if where you mounted your antenna is a good location.
|
The antenna has worked out great..no problems and it works like a charm.I'f heard from a few guys that say thats where they mounted there antenna.
Hey Sopher..I got my wireing harness from SonicElectronix.com.The pionner has a diagram with it and so does the harness from sonic..you pretty much just match the colors. |
but are you getting great reception. Put everything back together and go into your settings to see how many bars you are getting for reception bc I would like to know

I went ot the SonicElectronix.com web site and could NOT find a harness that looks like it would fit. Do you have a part # ?
|
I've got my antenna mounted in the same spot and I've got full reception. All of the factory antennas mount under the dash so there shouldn't be any issues.
|
Nice install! Just wondering where and how you installed the bluetooth microphone? Also did you have to get the sirius connect kit for pioneer? Does the stereo show artist/song/channel on the display at one time or only one at at a time? Thanks for your time.
**VD |
The mic is on the headliner between the sunvisor and mirror..and is really clear.Yes I got the kit and it has a nice sirius screen that you can pick to display the channel..or artist..the catagory ect...The only thing I dont like with the sirius is that you cant change the name on the presets. They just say preset1,preset2 etc...I wish you could actuallt put in a channel name or number. The Ipod screen is great but only with the pioneer connector..I tried my HDTV connector which looks the same but I didnt get the same screen..it did play the songs but without the nice menu.
OH..and since I wrote this I'v installed a back up camera.I could live with out it.It works great BUT.If your in a hurry and backing out of the drive late for work..forget it.I wont come on untill the navigation system goes thru its start up procedure.By that time I'm out the drive and halfway down the street. Its goo donce I get to work..but all in all its just another "Toy".I pulled a 12volt Diode out of an old alternator and I'm running a switch to the camera to turn it on while driving..the diode will keep the back up light from coming on when I do this.I think I will get more use out ot this way. As far as the harness..I didnt see a listing so I just called and asked . I didnt buy my radio from them but they were still very helpful which is why I bought the sirius and install kit from them.I Ipod cable I got on e-bay for a fraction of the cost. But if you get it on e-bay check the part number against the one listed under the radio accesories to make sure it will give you all the functions. |
Really, with my F90BT the back-up camera comes on as soon as you put it in reverse, even if its right after you start the truck. Thats weird...
|
I wish mine did..unless I'm missing something the 910bt. First you have to actually select it from the menu..which doesn't appear until the Nav boots up...and then it will come on when put in reverse. But it never comes on by just putting it in reverse and I see no way to make it fully automatic.
Hey Sopher..I just ran across my harness package the part number is FD23B.Save the package because the color code is on the back of it. |
That's odd...... mine comes on as soon as I put it in reverse even if the NAV system isn't booted up. Did you go through the menus and select for it to always come on when you put the truck in reverse? Like I said mine works great......
|
Yeah you have something else going on b/c mine comes on as soon as I put it in reverse also.
|
UPDATE:
Found out that the PAC AFSI-01 is the module to get to retain SYNC AND conenct to factory wires. Also, the PAC SWI-PS has a newer version called SWI-PSv1 (Sonic seems to be the only ones that have a catalog entry for it) I'll let ya know how it all goes when I do the actual install. |
Fixed it..Seems the guy before me didn't have a rear camera so he cut the purple/yellow signal wire that tells the avic your in reverse and he taped it in the harness.I never even saw it.I thought the AV cable told the avic it was in reverse when the backup light sent power to the camera..My Bad.
Anyway I was off work sick today..to sick for work but not too sick to fix my truck.I found the wire..lengthened it and ran it to the P.A.M module under the dash. We're good to go now. And I like my pioneer even more today than I did yesterday. |
Sopher..I thought you were looking for the power harness installation kit part number..not the PAC controls...sorry didn't mean to steer you down the wrong road.
|
I know the PAC interface way is more than the just raw harness way; but at least I can make use of the Sync too.
The PSW-psv1 is a must no matter how you wire up the radio. In fact I found a Schoche console that will fit including the 6 buttons above the nav. It's black however. So, I ordered some wood grained vinyl so I can re-cover it. Enough to do the console and the shifter console if needed. Plus the vinyl will fill in the slight void between the nav radio and the console edges. |
Just wondering where the Sirius factory module is located? I am wanting to use the antenna from it as well. Thanks.
|
Its under the radio.
If you look at the pics I posted you'll see that I built a shelf that I have the steering wheel control and new sirius module on..well thats the spot the factory sirius was.I just mounted a shelf in its place to make things neater. The antenna unplugs and then remove the square plastic cover and then you can plug the factory antenna into your aftermarket tuner. |
Thanks for the reply. Did you remove the factory sirius from your vehicle? If so is there a power and ground wire that unplug from it? Also I read that you ran the ipod cable to the armrest/center console was there a prefered side to drill the hole? Drill bit size?
|
Sweet. How much did your pioneer cost? Where?
|
I ran the cables on the right side.I find the right side easier because the shifter is not in the was and the side panel is easier to pop off.I used a step drill and stopped when the hole was the size of the USB end.I run everything into the console..i just installed a set of fog lights BEHIND the front grill, and ran the switch into the console.I dont want to modify the actual dash.
I did remove the sirius..I have it out in the garage somewhere. To be honest I dont remember if there was a seperate power connection or if it got its power thru the radio.Must be thru the radio because I have no unused wires hanging anywhere.I got the radio on e-bay and the pac steering wheel controls and f-150 install kit thru SonicElectronics.Personally I like sonic more than crutchfield. |
resurrecting the thread because im buying the same unit. lol.
how did you bypass the dvd thing? just ground the parking brake wire? |
The easiest way to tell you is to send you here..they have pictures ...... http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...-bluetooh.html also check out the AVIC website at http://avic411.com/

you have to depin and move the mute pin and ground it with the pbrake.
but it looks like avic411 is gonna be a handy site once my deck finally gets here. any suggestions/hints/comments about this deck you guys can give me? im pretty excited about putting it in |
I wanna hack it so bad but im not sure how/what to do. Ive got to do a lot more reading on it.
You will hate the volume knob. It is tiny compared to, say, a pioneer single din deck. There is a guy on avic 411 that produced larger ones and sells them for $20 bucks, ill probably be picking one up. Other then that though my only complaint is that you cant flush mount the blue tooth mic. The noise canceling ports are further back on the mic. |
Did you hook up the green, pink, and violet/white wires
I just ordered the avix x910bt I already had a pioneer unit with pioneer xm radio and ipod controls, but wanted to upgrade to the DVD/NAV and fill up my whole dash and I like that I can match the color of the other electronics in my truck. but where did you hook up your speed signal and reverse signal wires. and the green says go to the parking brake, but I think that is the signal for the DVD to not play when the truck is in gear. Thanks for ur help.
