Problem With - JVC KW-AVX710

I got the unit off eBay from a guy who had the unit in a 2005 F-150. It already had everything hooked up; all I had to do was reconnect the wires because it looked like a 10 year old put them together. The unit works great.....when I am sitting still. Once I start moving I get A LOT of noise. I have heard "noise" in a system before, but this is more like I am listening to some hip-hop chopped and screwed music....doesn't work well with country. The faster I go, the "choppier" it gets.
My question is what could be causing this? Should I insulate the wires leaving the unit to the factory connector?
Also, I hooked up the parking brake cable (the cable that keeps you from/allows you to watch DVD with the parking break off) to the ground coming from the unit. Could this cause the noise? Besides this small annoyance the unit works great, and so far I like it. Thanks!!

I took the unit out last night and made sure that all the wires were connected right. They were. Before I put the unit back in, I drove around the block with it sitting out so I could hear the noise. It is deffinitly the unit. I can hear the buzzing sound straight from the right side of the unit.

Also, is the fan always on or does it just turn on once it hits a certain temp?

Your first mistake was buying a JVC. Id say probably 50% of the ones I install come back with problems

I have the same unit in 3 of my last cars. 1 F250 1 Crown vic and one Jeep cherokee. I never had an issue well except for guys with alpine wishing there units had the features mine has.

I would look in the antenna hook up and routing. I think what you are hearing is electrical noise. A radio/electrical device should be shielded pretty well from electrical interference but some time this noise can travel thru a wire in to the device. Make sure you Ground is solid. And maybe ground the case of the radio. Just some thoughts...

Good luck

Damn, then I've made 4 mistakes. Every JVC I've had has worked flawlessly, and no offense Sun, but even better than any Pioneer I've had. Every pioneer I've ever had has been crap. I read about more problems with the Pioneers than I do about JVCs, then again there's a lot more pioneers out there than JVCs. More of them to complain about. I know 3 guys that had pioneers like yours with the flip out screens, that the motor on the screens gave out on them. Don't get me wrong, I think pioneer has some nice features w/ some of their stuff, but it's not worth the ridiculous amount of money that they charge you for that over priced ****. You say that 50% of the ones YOU install come back with problems, hmmm.... are you sure it's the units and not the installer? Sorry, could'nt resist

P.S: The OP started this thread looking for help, not for some one like you to come on here and bash his/her choice of car audio. And oh yeah, thanks for the helpful info there sport!

Damn...you got my good there.

Lol no, its not install related issues. I will admit, pioneer flip outs to go bad quite often, but thats an inherited risk with a flipout of any brand. However, if you compare a single din pioneer with a single din JVC, pioneer will outperform, from the base unit to the top of the line. The only thing thats cool about a JVC is that some come with built in HD radio (if you into HD radio. I think its stupid) and the one unit that gives you like 100 color match options. Thats about the only thing I like about them.

Edit...must have missed that lil PS you posted...here we go.

OP...you purchased a USED unit off of EBAY... probablly for an extremely cheap price. That was your first mistake. You have no idea how the previous owner treated that unit. As you stated, it looked like a 10 year old wired it together. That right there is an idication to me that the unit was abused. You cant expect a perfectly good unit when your buying it off ebay. Even though you may be standup and alert a buyer to any issues, not everyone is that nice. Secondly, JVC is notorious for having sub par product quality. If you look at companies that make good, stand up, long lasting products, 9 times out of 10 they are companies that have a small specialization. In my professional experience, units like sonys and JVC's are horrible in quailty compared to units like Kenwood, Alpine, and Pioneer. Im not saying that they do not make good products, like i said, im just speaking as to my experience. Companies JVC and Sony make consumer electronics across the board. They specialize in maybe one or two quailty areas, but the rest are run of the mill.

Is the noise you are getting on one music source? Is it just am/fm? Cd? Ipod? Sat radio? Usually when a noise gets louder as you go faster, its a ground loop issue. I would unground your parking brake wire and give it its own ground. Check and make sure your antenna connection is complete, and tape any bare metal so that it doesnt ground out.

Hey mitch, is that good enough help for you sport?

Yeah good enough sun. I agree with you about buying something used and the ground issue (don't see what that has to do with brand). Though I still disagree with you on pioneer vs jvc, especially the single dins. Every pioneer I've had, 3 altogether, has been absolute junk, just my opinion. Sound quality, screen quality, control function all sucked compared to all the JVCs I've owned (4). If I were to go with another brand dd unit, and I just might this time around and give the wife my jvc, I'm gonna get a Kenwood, the new one that's out to replace the 8120. Every one has their preferences or just better luck with one unit or the next. For me, I stay away from the pioneers, and don't put people down when seeking help
