I used to have an isimple (peripheral electronics) ipod interface and I remember the instructions said that they would not work on any headunit that was not MP3 capable. Basically if MP3 was printed on the front of the deck it would work. I also remember that none of the 04 decks were mp3 capable, that did not start until the 05's came out.

The older PIE adapter would work on an 04, but it uses the audio out from the ipod from the headphone jack, you still have to have access the pod for control.

PIE also makes another model that allows control of the ipod from the radio, but I don't know if it will work on an 04 HU.

You could always get an 05-up radio from craigslist or the classifieds, then just hook up the isimple and your good.
