Window Mount or Dash Mount?

For mounting a GPS which is better, window or dash in the 2006 F150?
I just bought a Magellan Maestro 5310 and the window mount seems a long way to reach.
Does anyone know of a universal dash mount kit?
Thanks

bean bag mount in the tray

My dad just put navigation in his 2006. He used a bean bag mount. It has a glass on the top for the suction cup, and a sticky rubber bottom. It fits perfectly in the tray on the dash. Then you can easily move it to the floor when you leave the vehicle, or move it to another vehicle.

One on eBay

^^Agreed. Those suction cup things never work well on the windows.

I have a 4.3" Garmin and I use the window mount but, the thing falls off every few weeks.
Circuit City and Best Buy sell a bean bag mount that sits on the dash if
you do not want to mess with ebay.

I have a Magellan roadmate that I use mounted on the windshield just below the rear view mirror. Easy to reach and not as much glare as mounting it lower and further out on the windshield. Don't have any problems with it sticking to the glass. I should add you need to keep a little distance between the gps and the rear view housing that holds the compass otherwise your dash compass won't work correctly.

I borrowed by BIL's Garmin a couple of times before I got this and he had a bean bag mount for it. That worked good as well sitting in the dash tray.
