'05 Rail DVD Wiring

I bought a 'Ford' DVD player for my '05 Supercrew (part 5L3J 10E947 AG3BJA) and local dealership told me that the wiring harness should already be in the truck above the headliner. All I could find was some grey 10 pin connector in the middle just above the rear window. The DVD player I bought has a 26 pin connection so I'm guessing I DO NOT have the DVD wiring harness pre-installed. My only option appears to be to buy the $130 wiring harness and hope it fits my DVD player. My truck was built 12/17/04 the DVD was built 6/23/05. Can anyone help me? Do I need to buy the DVD harness or am I missing something?

I do not have the rail DVD player but I had mine pre-wired from the factory. Here is where the plug is and what it looks like.

Sorry for the blurry pics. My camera kept focusing on the wrong thing. It is a 3-plug harness.

I've got it working!! Ed from Parr Auto (F150partsguy.com) and I spent a ton of time figuring out what part I needed. Thanks BlueFlareside for the pic's and information, my truck had the same three pin wiring harness above the headliner. The DVD player I had needed a 26 pin connection. It appeared I needed part (14558??) but according to my VIN my truck already had that wiring harness in it. We took a chance and ordered it again, and the new harness did include the 26 pin DVD connector. I just dropped my headliner and plugged it in, it did replace all the wiring/connectors for the overhead lights, so i just cut off the old adapters. As best we can tell Ford consolidated wiring harnesses for this vehicle and used the same part number, but it now includes the DVD connector. I will double check the part number and post back if I got it incorrect.

Just getting started

KC F150, did you ever figure out what the 3 pin grey harness connector was for? I'm trying to wire mine up. I bought the 05 DVD player on Ebay and I have an 05 F150. The DVD player came with a harness. Where does the harness go? I've heard it goes down the rear support on the driver's side. Can you give me any tips? I'd really appreciate it.

I went through the same thing. I know that I could have made it work but I would of been trying to many things so I decided to just go aftermarket. The Alpine has a better picture and its a little bit bigger. I installed it on my own.

Bringing up an old thread. I recently bought and 05 Supercrew with the rail mount console storage system and I'm thinking about buying an OEM DVD setup for it.

IF my truck has the harness in it....would it be near the existing hole or did the factory harness come out somewhere else?

I am interested in doing this install myself.
Can someone shed more light on harness and install directions?
I have an 08 mark lt and it also has the hole in the headliner as mentioned here.

Update;
I was able to purchase the dvd unit and the harness from a forum member here.
Tomorrow I will try and do the install. I'm told the harness should be in my truck already but we will see.
I'll keep those interested updated.
