Factory Navigation

I'm trying to purchase a new 08 King Ranch given all of the discounts along with employee pricing. I thought I wanted the Factory Navigation with the audiophile, but at MSRP its an over $2000 option. Also, there don't seem to be a lot of King Ranchs with the option anyway, so its somewhat limiting my dealership and negotiating abilities.

Is the factory navigation worth it, or would I be doing better taking the cash and getting something aftermarket? Any recommendations?

Thanks.

i paid $1,695 installed for my eclipse avn5510. that included the unit, install, and use of my oem overhead dvd unit and steering wheel controls....and tjhe unit is 100% better than the oem unit that was in there(granted is was the old cd based version). it can probably be done for less now, esp if you do all the work yourself.

I was told the factory NAV could be installed in my truck for $2300. I decided to wait and look into after market, and do some research.

I would like to hear more detail about the eclipse avn5510.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to ask questions. I have the Toyota navigation with blue tooth in my wife's car. That is the perfect setup for me, I wish I could do the same in my 08 SCREW.

you can add bluetooth to the 5510. it uses the reverse camera plug. i think PAC makes the kit.

It is easy to add an OEM nav unit to your ford. I just installed one in my 07 Expedition. I also passed up on it at the dealership because of the $2500 option. I then bought a new OEM from a reputable business on ebay for less than half the price. I installed it in 20 minutes. I know you can get a pretty sweet aftermarket unit for a little more or around the same, but I prefer the factory look for this car, and it is easy to use for my wife.

Did you have to perform any modifications for the system to fit?

Eclipse OEMs the Navis for Toyota/Lexus, so you would be going into a similar products with them into your SCREW.

Yes BT can be added, or included with the purchase (AVN6620BT). The unit is made by Parrot and goes directly through the wiring harness. NOT through the camera input. Camera input is still there for the camera.

The only thing PAC makes for these (as well as the majority of other aftermarkets) is the steering control interface - SWI-ECL2.

the eclipse bt kit is just a basic parrot kit....nothing special. you could buy a parrot for less probably. it does not directly work with the radio as far as touch screen. the pac kit shows incoming calls on the eclipse unit, among other things. it is utilized by using the rear camera port. this was all verified by eclipse. see last item on the following page:

I was replying in regards to original post. BT is available from Eclipse (the Parrot kit) which is plug&play through the primary harnesses but will only mute during call and playback through the speakers. As you already state though ... nothing special.

I still stand by what I originally said about PAC only making the steering controls. What you linked to was Raytel/Ego BT kits that yes will interface with the AVN, but not PAC produced, just distributed.
