Clarion MAX685BT in '02 / question
Hello all, I'm a new member, longtime Ford owner.
I recently used this forum and another for engine diagnosis with great sucess so here I am again with a new question.
Today I installed my new Clarion DVD player in my 2002 F150. I had to do some light dremel work to get a good fit but after a little trimming it slid right in.
My problem is that if someone wants my head unit, it can slide right out! It did not come with a traditional sleeve that you pop the tabs out on.
there is some plastic supports still behind my dash that I could drill through and run a screw into the side of the unit but it's still plastic.
Does anyone have some advise on a solid mount? right now she's all put together and drove 40 miles with out any movement but it's still in the back of my head that the unit is not very secure.
I did not take pics before work so Ill post them in the am. thanks
BK

- 1. Find a cage off another DD HU (I used a Alpine W200's)
- 2. Buy the kit for it (Metra 95-5026)
- 3. Screw into the unit and the plastic on the sides. Just make sure to use a VERY short screw!!! NO LONGER THAN 5mm into the HU!
- 4. Take the mounts off the old radio and get creative in mounting to Clarion
I do recommend getting the kit however.
Will the Metra 95-5026 replace the existing black plastic that I had to trim? If so that makes sense and I will get one asap. I noticed that there were two screws in front where else under the dash does it mount? thanks again
