W505 vs. DNX8120

what do you guys think??? im trying to figure out which way i want to go. i like the interface on the alpine. but i really like the fact that kenwood has a garmin nav system. i guess the biggest thing that is holding me back is whether or not Alpine has a good nav system with the blackbird. what are your guys views on the two? anything from how they perform as a headunit to the nav system quirks. thanks in advance.

Personally I like the 8120, both are decent but the built in Nav is a better option for me. I do hear that the w505 has a great interface however compared to the 8120 which takes some time to get used to.

Thats what i am trying to find out. if the navigation is giong to be that big of a deal for me. i already have a Garmin portable unit and i love it. it would be nice to have it in the dash but if the Alpine is really that much better as far as EQ, processor, screen quality ETC... then i can live with my portable unit until Alpine comes out with a better Nav system. What do you guys think?

Thumbs up

I just installed a DNX 5120 a few months ago. If you check, it has most of the same features as the DNX 8120. I will tell you this much, the Garmin GPS is an absolute pleasure to use. The controls are very intuitive, the voice prompts auto-mute your sounds momentarily as well as give simultaneously give you visual prompts, the GPS screens are customizable many different ways, too many features to list. The units look good too! You can't go wrong with the Kenwoods.

on thing that i hate about the 8120 is that they put that freaking bluetooth antenna on the side of the screen. i may end up going with the DNX7120 and boost the RCA's.

Skip both, do a carputer, way more functionality than either. Will require more work to put together, but you can do anything you want to it, and it will be cheaper then both of those you listed above.
