i keep mine in my glove compartment hooked up but they can put it anywhere you want.... I think you should be ok about the classic, nano i believe works best with video stuff.
Someone told me if you don't use an actual apple cord for the video out it will not work.
Note: The unit only supports video playback of the iPod video 5th generation model. First, second and third generation iPod and iPod shuffle are not supported for audio or video playback. If your iPod's battery is completed depleted before connecting it to the MAX385VD, the unit will not recognize or charge your iPod.

>>Addition:>> Basically what mine does is this.. I hit the ipod video button on the clarion, it says "waiting for ipod video..." or something very similar... I'm assuming here you start a video using your actual ipod... I do this, and nothing ever displays on the clarion, while it's playing fine on the ipod.. MP3's work fine.. You plug it in, and get a whole list of your MP3 directories and such, but no video's display here.. there's a seperate video button that does nothing except sit there waiting to sync to video... which again never syncs with anything..

I'm a Kenwood man but I do like that radio. A few weeks ago I sent my buddy to www.kcautosound.com and he ordered it from Travis. The menu systems have always been straight forward and simple with Clarion. Travis even wired the harness up with the toggle switch for video bypass for us. I simply had to just mount the radio and connect a wire for the steering wheel adapter and it was done. For a non-navigational radio I liked it alot. He also purchased from Travis the Polk Audio MA1100.5 five channel amp to run off it with some Polk speakers. That is a bad *** amp!!! Now I gotta get me one...lol

Ok guys I was talking to my friend and he just told me something that was so obvious that I totally forgot to check when trying to get my iPod to work.
All you need to do is take you iPod and click on Video
Once in that menu click on Video Settings
Than there is a option for video out, and just enable that to ON
Thats it
You know will press that button on your Clarion MAX385VD screem and it will prompt you with waiting for iPod video signal. Than just go to your ipod and select the video you want to view and it will than show up on the screen. Let me know if you need anymore help

THats a great looking stereo. Im looking at the same one but what I cant find a pic of is what the screen looks like when your listening to sirius. Does it tell you the artist, like a seperate sirius unit does??? Would you mind taking a pic?

The sides do light up... the illumination wire is not hooked up to your headlight switch... looks like they skipped on that one
What do you mean by "because it's to new" ... My Clarion 385 works great for DVD Video, but I have not been able to get it to work at all using either my IPhone 3g, or a Classic Ipod Video 80GB.. Has ANYONE? I posted this on another form and got no answers.. Could someone please tell me if they HAVE done this successfully. I don't think it's a flaw that should simply be dismissed.. and I haden't heard anything on it not working with certain ipods because "they are to new" before. Any truth to this, or does it just not work at all..?
