Need help with decision!

Hey all, I've got a friend with an 04 Supercrew who wants to put a "touchscreen DVD player" in his truck. He doesn't want a system with nav, and he doesn't care about an iPod hook-up. We've been looking online and he seems to like the Jensen VM9312HD.

Does anyone here have this head unit? Is it any good? How difficult would it be to install (we're new to this area of modding)? Would he still be able to use the steering wheel controls after install?

Thanks for any help and suggestions!

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!

Did I make myself clear?!? Those come back so often with problems. Behind the 9512, I think thats the worst unit made by Jensen/Phase Linear/Audiovox.

Okay, so I guess he'll be scratching that unit off of his list. He's also looking at the Legacy LDNTV65U ( http://sonicelectronix.com/item_1073...+LDNTV65U.html ) because he likes the look of the in dash screen. If this unit is also bad, what can be recommended for about $350?

Try again...

Save a few more $$ and just do some good research on what you/he is deciding on.

Could not agree with Low more. I would look in to a used Alpine W205 or even W200 or a Pioneer D3. Much, much better units.

I totally agree with Low. I'll only sell a name when it comes to video. I'm an Alpine dealer and that's what I try to stick to. I'm not saying to buy the most expensive, but I always say "you get what you pay for"!
