Aftermarket DVD HELP!

hi guys,

I have an 07 150 Lariat and there was an aftermarket DVD player installed where the dome light should be. My problem is that it has stopped working. The light on the unit works but the DVD player and screen has no power. I took it down and there seems to be power to the light through the original dome light wiring, then there is another twisted black/red pair that goes to the DVD. I have no idea where this goes to. I would assume its some 12vdc power source but have no idea where they would have gotten it from. If anyone can help that would be great.

I would start by checking your fuse panel for a blown fuse. If you dont find anything there, talk to your installer.

I'd much rather not involve them, what is the normal 12vdc spot where overhead dvd are installed

My guess would be that they added a circuit for the DVD, given that you didnt notice anything else not working that would indicate they tapped into another circuit. But that is only a guess, there is no way of knowing without looking. There are many ways to get 12v to that dvd player. If you dont want to involve the installer, you need to follow the wires and see where they are getting power. As stated before, the place to start is looking for a blown fuse. There is also the possiblity that the unit is just fried.

i would start by removing every single fuse and hopefully find a blown one, yeah it sucks but its easier then removing the headliner to find some wires....
