D3 Back up camera pic distorted

I just got done installing a AVIC D3 in my 06 F-150. Everything went perfect, DVD's play, Bluetooth works great and the camera works when I shift to reverse BUT the picture is distorted. It is a Pioneer unit - ND-BC2

I pulled all the wires apart from each other to ensure that is no interferrence but it didn't change anything. It is like an old TV that has the picture divided in the middle with the top on the bottom and bottom portion on the top.

I have two of these because I am installing another in my wifes truck so I took her camera, box and leads and tried them but nothing worked.

I hooked up the power lead to a different source with no change.

Is there any kind of adjustment for this ?

Thanks !

Tom

I have that exact setup and I will try and look today and see if there is any adjustments. I dont think that there is, but I will check. I would first check you're video cable and make sure that the connection is good, and possibly wrap it in electrical tape to make sure that it is not grounding on something behind the dash.

I trouble shot this to death and finally found out that the head unit is not working correctly.

I called the place I bought it from, ABT Electronics, and they are sending a replacement FedEx and I just put my unit in the shipping box and they will call it.

That's what I call customer service !

OK here's the follow up on this.

ABT sent me another unit. I installed it and the same thing happened so I decided I was going to reinstall EVERYTHING from scratch using the replacement equipment.

When I turned it on it worked like a charm. Everything works just like it is supposed to. This is a great system !

I started looking at all the connections I made figuring I did something wrong but what I found was the ground wire on the brown back up camera lead that went into the white connector got cut when they crimped it onto the pin in the connector. It's a very small wire to begin with.

My wife actually saw it, The wire was hanging just outside of the pin socket but had been cut clean when they crimped the connector pin on it.

Like I said - great unit. A little but of a hassle to get everything right but buying it from ABT was the right choice. They sent another unit out Fed Ex and are paying to have the other one will called - plus I got the $200 rebate on the deal !

I'm happy now !

Smart wife as I know mine would have no clue what she was looking at.

Actually she didn't know what she was looking at. She just asked if that wire was supposed to be like that.
