Which navigation unit do you like?

Greetings all,

I am going to install a Nav system in 2003 F150. I've read several posts about modifications needed for a double din opening and am now trying to finalize my decision on which unit. Below are the three that I'm considering and I would love to hear some feedback from folks that have the units.

Pioneer AVIC D3
Kenwood DNX 7100
Eclipse AVN 5500

Any others I should consider?

If you have some pros and cons for each that would be very helpful. Can you also provide feedback on Bluetooth function and Sirius radio. THANKS!

Heard lots of good things about the Kenwood, plus the fact that it has the Nav on an SD card, to me, makes it an easy decision. I just need to find the best place to buy it from. The other two are both decent systems, you really can't go wrong, it's going to come down to what looks best to YOU, what works best for YOU....Personally, I didn't like the D3 nav screen when I tested it out at Best Buy, but I'm not sure that I was interrogating the nav too well, so that could be subjective....either way, swapping out the Nav disc everytime you want a CD or a DVD in was kind of point that swayed me away.

All three are good models. I personally suggest the Pioneer AVIC-Z1, sound quality and some nice features it has. it has a 30GB hard drive and allows you to save your surrounding location so you don't need the CD in the head unit. I have an N3 and Z1 and love them both. Z1 double din and N3 single din. Both are awsome units.

I have had the kenwood 7100 about a week now. It is all in one unit, with built in GPS, navigation. So far its great, and you cant go wrong with Garmin navigation, which is its biggest plus. The user interface on the cd/dvd requires a bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out its not bad. I paid $950 at my local stereo shop, but they can be found a bit cheaper online if you like to go that way.

i have the eclipse avn 5510. i like it very much. i would have gotten the 6610 if i had known about the traffic option, but i can't complain. easy to use. the only problem i am having is the tilt face is starting to act up....but it is still under warranty, so they will fix it or replace it. i'm hoping they are fast though....i leave for fl in 5 weeks, and i NEED tunes!!!

i beg to differ....there are two drives on on this headunit....one cd based, and one dvd based.....i know for sure it plays dvds as i did that for awhile on my lunch breaks. i dont own an ipod, so the latter is irrelevant to me.

The Strada is junk. It's a cheap take off of the Eclipse. It doesn't have a remote control. It doesn't have the ability to reuse the steering wheel controls. When I last looked, the traffic feature doesn't work and neither Panasonic nor directed (manuf of the traffic receiver) were sure when they'd have the product out.

Do a search for "strada" and you'll see all of my gripes from when I bought and returned one.

I have the Eclipse 5510 and love it. It's a great unit. I chose it over the 6610 because I have no need to have dual zone media with a DVD playing while I'm viewing navigation. I also have no need for traffic reports. I live in the DC area and it's just going to say "there's traffic everywhere. You're F'd." I also have google maps on my phone w/ free traffic.
