Anyone have a Pioneer AVIC-D3?

Been doing some research on In Dash Navigation systems. This one seems like a really good price but wanted some feedback from anyone that might have it? The only thing I dont like is you have to switch out the CD/DVD for Navigation and cant listen to a music CD since it doesnt seem to have a H/D or memory slot. Also curious to know how hard it is to by-pass the player?

Thanks!

There are are a few D3 owners here.

I have the Alpine W205 with the new BlackBirdB200.

I like having the option of taking my GPS with me in multiple cars...the 3D option street fly through is the view I prefer.

I run two ipods, video, bluetooth phone, blah blah blah.

I have avic-d3.
So far its awesome. I dont really remove the nav disc. I use an ipod so that takes care of music. If you have a video ipod you can watch videos from it too.

Right now I have avic-d3, bluetooth, ipod.
Wednesday i will be installing sirius.

Plus plenty of room for expansion with xm/navtraffic, usb adapter, backkup cam...etc

The D3 is a very good buy for the dollar. I like the ability to have indash DDin nav for under a grand.

The Cd/DVD is a bit of a pain but for the money i wouldnt argue. Buy an Ipod.

The bypass is extremely easy. Pm me for details.

for the bypass remove the mute wire from the harness then put it in either the slot above or below it then ground along with the parking brake

the nav will work with a cd or dvd in but you have to set your destination then take out the nav dvd then put in your cd......

ive got the alpine w200 my dad has the d3 and if i were to buy again id get the w205..... the d3 is not very user friendly

This may not be popular, but since I have had both I think I can say this. Alpine is in a different class. I did have a B200 go bad but it was b/c I was damn near the Beta for it. They overnighted me a new one while I was on a trip. I did have a ongoing problem with my Pioneer and the challenge was getting to talk to someone. It was stolen out of my truck....some a-hole did me a favor. I don't rep Alpine...

Kind of like the folks that buy Dodge b/c they cannot afford Ford.

Flame away, I can take it. I am an Alpine guy.

Can anyone tell me if with the Pioneer Avic-D3 you can burn the divix movies to a DVD and play them in the player. Bypassing the Ipod if you dont have one?

Thanks!

you can have it alone with the GEX-P920XM or GEX-P10XMT.
If nav-traffic is a want/need you will need the GEX-P10XMT.

Yes, Divx is supported.
But can you watch the divx from a DVD not having to be on the ipod?

Also when you have the ipod plugged in and in the glove box does it just stay charged by being plugged into the reciever? Also do you have to manaully open the glove box to turn it off when done playing or when you turn your reciever off the ipod will go off too?

Thanks!

the d3 has an option to charge the ipod whenever the d3 is on.
