Ford OEM Nav unit

There are many on Ebay...how do you tell which one will work with your year. I have an '06 F-150 SuperCrew. I contacted the local Ford dealer and they never called back.

thanks

most of them should work with your truck...try to find a 06 or an 07 model and you should be fine...however you will need to get the unit reprogrammed for it to work with your truck.

Where can you take the unit to be reprogrammed for the truck? Where can you buy the Ford Sirius module?

I was wondering also where the Nav units could be programmed. I didn't know if the dealer would do that for units they didn't initially sell. Also, would any Ford, Lincoln or Mercury nav unit work? Are they interchangeable?

thanks

The Navigation will need to come from the manufacture programmed for your certain vehicle. I bought one and it ended up being for the Ford 500 I was told. After going to a different dealership they ended up ordering me a new one for my F150 and after about three weeks I was up and running. If you get one that is not for the F150 than it will work but the GPS wont track when you drive. It will just skip to your location every few miles, it sucked.

Can I reprogram it myself, or do I have to take it to the dealer? I read somewhere in the forum that if you push 3 and 6 together, it will take you to the programing menu. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, I'm still looking for a factory navi for my truck...I want that stock/sleeper look...

Did they offer to reprogram it, or did you have to buy a new one out of pocket?

no you can not program it yourself unless you have the equipment to do so....pushing 3 and 6 isn't going to allow you to program the unit for use in a different vehicle.

run some searches, i remember one memeber shipping his unit off to a company, and if i remember correctly the turn-around time was extremely quick.
