Newest Nav Units and their Features......heelllpppp

Ive got a 2005 F150 KR and I put in the Eclipse AVN6600 and I love the unit. My son is about to turn 15 and I am giving him my truck and I will be getting a 2008 f150 KR and I wanna put in the latest and the greatest. Things I dont like about my AVN6600 that I would like to upgrade.....I dont like the plain ugly wallpaper that you cannot change so I would like to be able to use my own wallpapers......I dont like the fact that you cannot hook up an IPOD video and play videos through the unit.....I would like to be able to play video through the deck.......I dont like the fact that I cannot blue tooth my phone.....I would like to be able to blue tooth my phone.

Will all you guys please tell me whats out there and what the features are as far as new units like the AVN6600 ??? How about Eclipses new unit and the new Pioneer ??? Are their other units out there ?? Please let me know the model numbers and the features if you will......I certainly appreciate any help that you give me.

I sure do enjoy watching IPOD videos with my Alpine W205. So does my daughter. Nice to have 2 ipods in my truck. 1 80 Gig for only video and 1 30 gig for only music. Easy to jump back and fourth too plus the added bonus of the NAV that can go in multiple vehicle was what sold me. I had the Pioneer before it was stolen and the IPOD direct connection is crazy fast.

Best of luck.

I like the damn Kenwood because you can put background images on the unit.....my eclipse AVN660 backgrounds are horrible.....I also like how you can do ipod video through the kenwood......I have a few questions for all you experienced folks :-)................

1) will the pioneer or the kenwood do XM and Sirius at the same time ??? In other words can I subscribe to both and hook them up and control both from the unit or does it have to be either / or ??? I cant even find that the kenwood does XM , only sirius.....but the pioneer does both but can BOTH be used.

2) will the pioneer allow you to change the background images ???

3) will the pioneer do video ??

4) seeing as the kenwood uses Garmin GPS....is it any good ???

5) The pioneer GPS screen looks so good in still pictures, is it as good as it looks ??

If anyone can help me answer all these questions, I would appreciate it :-)

yes and kick *** wallpapers that you can down load from various places. I have a cool Ford wallpaper in mine now but change it up from time to time.

The Kenwoods are also nice. The benefit of the Kenwood is that you can control the Videos from the HU. That is nice.

I like the 3D NAV from Alpine. Its great and its been dead on to date.

Lots of choices you have.

EDIT, the black bird is docked INSIDE the HU, so its run from the HU and the added hands free BlueTooth phone is also kick ***.

Get the Kenwood. Yes for the w205 you need the blackbird for nav, which inserts behind the screen... My friend has the alpine, and for I think the kenwood is far better for being so muc cheaper... Plus the blackbird is around 600 bucks!! The kenwood nav is only about 330 although its not removeable... But i have a garmin handheld if i want that route...

I cannot comment on the Eclipse nor the Kenwood as much but I have seen it work in a friends car and the IPOD video control is really slick. I didn't care for the Nav and the GUI it used. Seemed clunky to me.

My neighbor has the AVIC and he hates it, it doesn't control his IPOD very well and you cannot see the songs, artists etc. After him being in my truck, he is taking it out and selling it to get the Alpine.

I think you are really down to two options. Kenwood or Alpine. And the BB200 is not 600.00 bucks, its 700 but you should be able to talk it down a bit if you are getting both.

I take my BB out and us it in my wifes car when not in my truck. The doc station it comes with has a FM mod in it so we get the turn by turn over the radio and it has a "Mix" feature which is cool.

Before you buy the Kenwood, I would find an Alpline Dealer and go play with the W205 with the BB in it. Hell if you were in DFW I would let you check mine out. I think you would be sold after you see what it can do. The caller ID, Phonebook sync is totally bad ***. When a call coms in, the IPOD will pause, mute and the Caller ID pops up and then you control your phone from the HU including dialing etc.

Its slick and well made and well thought out for a driver.

Those are just my opinions.

He has an older AVIC and it really is terrible for IPOD, the new ones are much better but i have to say the Alpine Direct (high speed connection) is faster than any out there. If you have a large library like me (4700 songs) its afster to navigate around and find what you want.

What do you not like about the clean look of the W205? There are only 3 buttons on the thing, everything else is run totally from the screen.

send me a PM I have a little more info for you.
