Angry Nav System Install HELP!!!

Okay for starters I have a pretty decent history of various system and stereo installs but none with navigation systems. I have a 2000 F-150 Lariat and recently a buddy gave me a VDO Dayton PC5100 Navigation System. Now first I want to know is where the heck i tie in the Speedometer signal imput, low beam input, a 12 volt input that says must not be interupted during engine start, and finally the back up light tie in. I have been told that all of these can be found down by the kick panel on the driver side, but WTF color are they? Do I really need all of these for navigation?

Nave Cable Wire setup

A1- black/white, speedometer signal input
A2-white/yellow, back-up lights
A3- white/brown, mute signal *** Book says not required***
A4-red, +12V peranent power supply, "terminal 30"
A5- white/blue, Acessory *** Book says not required***
A6- grey, switch input lowbeam (don not connect to dashboard illumination)
A7- violet, +12V switched, "terminal 15" (must not be interupted during engine start)
A8- brown, negative battery pole, "terminal 31"

1) Dont need but its in the engine pin 58/68 in PCM
2) Again not needed.
3) Im repeating myself again....
4) Its in the radio harness... Buy the one for your truck...
5) Book is stupid. Accessory is a necessary (it turns it on off w/o you having to do it...)
6) Not needed. Catch at light switch tho... I think its a white wire... Check w/ DMM
7) Same as A5... Odd...
8) Either use a screw and metal or try the radio harness again....

Well I have been told that this screen can support both a DVD system and back up camera. I wonder if that is why the harness has the brake and the reverse wires. I spoke to a local stereo install shop and they said the reverse was to tell the nav system that the vehicle was in reverse but if it is GPS would it not tell me if it was going backwards (WTF!!!) makes no sense but then again I dont bring my truck to that place for a reason. The only thing they have that I dont is the wiring diagrams. What is the speed cable needed for? once again in a garman portable GPS i dont need a speed wire to tell me how fast I went from point A to point B. Is this a pretty old system I have aquired? from what I understand it is only 3 years old 4 at most. I know it is outdated compared to the newer ones but it shouldnt be that outdated to the point that I have to tell it how fast I am going or wether I am in reverse or frikken parked.

Did you even read my first post?

The VSS wire is not necessary. Its only to give your GPS an extra bit of verification plus if you go in any tunnels, or under heavy cover it will help keep your place on the map.

Your shop is right. Its a on/off reverse signal. Its just tells the system its in reverse and that will flip your scrn to the backup camera.

Low e Red- Yes i did read the post and I thank you for the advise. I understand that it is not needed and you confirmend the BS answer i got from the stereo shop that told me it was necessary even though I do not have a back up cam. I do know that the blue and white acessory wire is the one I would route to an amp since the Nav comp can also be used as a cd player. so that is why it is not needed. From looking at the diagram in the owners manual the violet wire looks as though it needs to be the switch/ acessory wire to power up the nav system when the truck starts. what i dont get is why it cant be effected when i actually start the vehicle what makes no sense is it says to conect it to the ignition system, but any ignition wire I am familar with loses power briefly when the ignition is fully enguaged to start the truck.

If the wire is Blue/White its an amp turn on. If the wire is white/blue EIEA has nothing for it.

You are right abt the ignition. I have never heard of a Dayton GPS system... Type in exactly what your book said and let me see what i can make of it. Because the ign wire is supposed to be red...

This isnt a stock nav unit is it?

The reverse wire again is not necessary unless you have a BU cam.
